High BP

Any one have prob with hight BP and swinging ???

just found out ive got have teast done why mine been so high

Its usually stress related. if ur diet and fitness is poor aswell

We have a family history of high bloodpressure and I take 2 pills every morning to keep mine stable.

On my last 2 checks mine has been pretty much spot on 120/80 but I get checked every 6 months due to my family history.

I try and keep myself in decent shape, I don't drink very much and I've never smoked.

I've lost 2 stone this year, but it hasn't had any effect what so ever on my blood pressure, well not while I'm on the pills, lol.

I might have to come off them for 6 months or so to see how my body runs on it's own

What the guy said above fitness and diet will help your bp also take time out for you self every now and again

Mine is low and yet my fitness and build are very bad.. so can be a number of reasons

just found out run on my dads side family.yah need to lose some weight getting there slowly .i dont drive so walk every where .

had cheacked yestday was 158/90 so doc gose close eyes and relaxs so did and went up to 178/90

Sassy have you tried increasing salt in your diet, this can increase low blood pressure.

No 2 people are the same, so what works for me wont necersarily work for you, but as rule thumb, you probably need to increase your fitness levels, and perhaps change or modify your diet.

Smoking isn't good for BP problems.

At the end of the day, it usually comes down to lifestyle choices, but it's not an exact science.

Our family also have high cholestral levels, and although I eat a low fat diet, my cholestral is usually around 6 which is very high for the type of food I eat.

And as you would imagine, I take a pill for that too.

I rattle when I walk.

Ive always had high blood pressure been on medication for it for years worst it was 240/180 frightened them to death and it paralysed half my face.

Now its about 160/90-100 even though ive lost weight its the one thing that hasnt changed

mine doesn't affect my sex life

whether it does as i get older will remain to be seen as viagra and the like are big no no's if ur BP is high

poppers don't do me any good and i avoid red bull at all costs

such a sensitive soul i am ha !

Quite a few years ago I used to suffer from high blood pressure and was on 4 or 5 different meds at the same time including beta blockers it never effected my swinging always got a stonking hard on but since turning 40 the blood pressure has gone the other way quite drastically. With me being a renal patient and having dialysis daily my blood pressure is checked daily and today it was 75/53 which would put most people flat on their backs passed out, okay I don't feel to brilliant an I'm off to lay down for a bit soon while the BP comes back up a bit. The low BP has had a rather undesired effect on the old hydraulics and a stiffy is now a squidgey.

my mum had a renal transplant in 2009 - until then, she was the same with the very very low BP

High BP runs in my family.I have to take a pill every morning. The only thing I have to avoid with swinging is the hot tub at clubs as it can make me light headed

similar to yourself - i now know the headahce and occasional nose bleed for me are tell tale signs mine has peaked again. been on atenolol 50g for about 10 yr now and this keeps mine under control but stil checked 6 monthly too. but your own doc will find right treatment to suit you. good luck hunni x

im in early stages of renal failure at 23.. got to have a scan on my kidneys in 2 weeks to find out whats going on.. didn't realise it was linked to low blood pressure.

I thought i was at least having a brain heamorrige first time it happened to me. It is a rise in blood pressure but only because your so horny. If you suffer migraines your more inclined to get them than someone who doesnt

High BP can be controlled, less salt, stop smoking,better diet and more exercise.

Low BP is harder to control, most recommend a higher intake of salt which helps, that said that should not deter you from eating sensibly and taking regular exercise, if your in doubt always consult your GP.

She even collapsed once too when she "dismounted"

After a year on beta blockers I was fed up. Life on them wasn't worth living. Didn't see how they were helping as they were restricting my excersise. Found a book on treating hypertension using diet. By cutting out biscuits (digestives contain a surprising ammount of fat), red meat, and ready meals, and having at least one banana every day (potassium/sodium balance is as important as total salt intake),I managed to stop the beta blockers altogether.

The diuretics given as a standard hypertension treatment tend to make me mineral deficient so I take magnesium supplements (regulates fibrilation) and a calcium, zinc, boron, magnesium and vit D3 supplement (to stop me feeling lethargic). I also take a high daily dose of omega3, nature's own teflon, acording to the book.

It's not a stupid question at all NN High blood pressure isn't good for anyone. It increases the risk of thrombosis and stroke, now if you get all excited in the heat of passion your heart races your blood pressure will rise and so will the risk if you have high blood pressure.

Yes salt is associated with high blood pressure, however that does not mean taking salt with increase an already low blood pressure. Allthat would result is you would become hypernatriemic (ie too much sodium in the blood stream) which is a potentially fatal condition.
