Jack Reacher..... who would you choose to play the part?

I can't think of any actors who would have the stature to take on this character - and certainly not suitable for Tom Cruise who is supposedly going to be taking the part. Has anyone else any ideas on this?

He's a charachter in a series of books by Lee Childs- he's fantastic :o) And as has been said before he's 6' of solid muscle, so Tom Cruise is an absolute no-no!

Think it would hav to be an unknown who played him

You don't have to read them in order- they're mostly stand alone stories, but if you just check the back page, it'll give you the order in which they were written

I've read every one: you really can't put it down once you've started. I can't think of anyone "famous" I'd cast as him. When I'm reading I don't think Tom Cruise that's for sure!

Jack reacher at 6'5 odds I would think of someone like 'the rock' or John cena both ex wwf guys who already have the build reacher is supposed to be ex marine/sf copper - there used to be an American show on about a private eye who used to be a pro footballer - I can see the guys face but no idea what his name is or what the series was called but he was perfect but he'd be wayyyyyy too old now. Tom cruise has to be a piss take he couldn't sort out a scrap in the oompa loompa room!! Statham would be ok but he's not that tall is he? Thought he was only around 5'10 - ooh dolph lundgren or the guy who played the punisher just came to mind.

Alex Cross was denzel washington every day for me - Cross was a keen boxer aswell as a detective / therapist - Washington played a boxer in hurricane - bet it was down to money!

I agree Jason Statham has the "Reacher attitude" but even he isn't "big" enough in most if the books Jack Reacher is described as a man mountain or similar.

I buy and save each new book until I go on holiday then I know I can read until my eyes fall out I hate having to stop mid book !!!

Just a gripping fantastic read !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Slightly off topic, but if you like the Jack Reacher and Alex Cross books, you may want to look at Harlan Coben's series with the character 'Myron Bolitar'

I read The Killing Floor recently and that's who I pictured in my minds eye...may be too old to play it in the movie though but has to be better than Tom Fekkin Cruise!

Well he's described as a man mountain with a square jaw and a buzz cut in his 40's so I think he'd be ok agewise - I'd play him but I'm overweight and undertall overbald & under the table most days ( how rock and roll am I?)
