I could tell I was in love when I was with my best friend. The relationship went well when we took the next step but the love for her blinded me from the cracks that started to show over the following months.

It even got to the point where I was pressured to either choose her or my family. I didn't want to make that chose so she decided to break my heart by ending the relationship and cutting ties altogether.

I didn't feel anything like that with my husband. I felt secure and where I belonged. I realise now that I didn't feel wanted or cherished.

When someone says those three little words 'I love you'. What exactly are you supposed to answer? 'Thanks'. doesn't seem quite right so 'I love you too'. is an easy way out.

This is where all the trouble starts.

I've said 'I love you too' several times (too many in fact) when the correct answer would have been 'Thanks but,no thanks'.

When someone says those three little words 'I love you'. What exactly are you supposed to answer? 'Thanks'. doesn't seem quite right so 'I love you too'. is an easy way out.

This is where all the trouble starts.

I've said 'I love you too' several times (too many in fact) when the correct answer would have been 'Thanks but,no thanks'.

All respect to those couples who stay together for 20,,,30,,,40 years but I suspect inertia is a more accurate explanation for this than 'love'.

You suspect incorrectly in many cases. We've been together 37 years, my parents 62. We know about love and it isn't hearts and flowers and cards on Valentine's day.

I'm pleased to know that not everyone is as jaded and cynical as me.

Trust me I'm cynical, especially about love

I was in love for 5yrs it took another 5yrs to get over her.Still think of her today and that's after 30yrs.Don't fall in love if you can help it otherwise it will crucify you for the rest of your life.
