I was born in England because my mum is English, and she came here to have me at her parents because there was trouble where I was conceived.

I went back as a baby, then in 1980 they moved across the border to South Africa and I never actually came to England again until 1987.

To make it even more mixed my father was born in Ireland so I am entitled to 3 passports.

British, South African and Irish. I don't know if I could go for 4 and apply to Zimbabwe because it was Rhodesia when I was living there.

In the very beginning - no, I don't think they did. I didn't really reference it at all (I was paranoid that it would be easy to identify me). Then we did a "what do you think the poster above sounds like" thread and I told people I had a NY accent. It was funny.

Yes op. A few people have surprised me after talking to them for a while, some I quickly get to know because I'm seriously interested and I actually ask a lot of questions, too many sometimes.

Some start to open up a little more over time and that's nice.

Some have surprised me in different ways too.
