Since it's wedding season:

For those that have been married I'm curious what you've done with your wedding dress/outfit?

Is it a case of wearing it for the day then getting it cleaned and hanging it up in the wardrobe...or does it come out on special occasions or whatever lol.

Mr N's suit long since went to the charity shop. I wore a skirt suit that was made by a young designer (not famous then or now lol) and its packed away in the loft. It wouldn't fit me now, thirty years on

I was going to cut mine short and dye it blue so I could wear it all the time, but when I left the US to come to the UK I tried it on one last time and I couldn't fit into it.

So now its packed away until I can lose 20lbs.

I wore a black Chinese dress when I go married. I have worn it since but currently can't get my boobs in it. So it's in a suitcase under the bed.

Never walked down the aisle. For men it's easy. A good suit which can be worn for work or special occasions.

I would look silly in a wedding dress with my hairy legs and chest.

I've never married so no dress .

I did just see something my sister shared on Facebook though. You can gift your dress to a charity and they have dressmakers who chop it up and make special outfits for stillborn babies and miscarried babies. I thought it was a beautiful thing to do, a gift for grieving parents.

For men I've found they hire them unless they want a specific look with a regular suit.

I wore a suit and not a dress. Didn't have a fancy do. Sent mine to cash 4 clothes when we separated. Glad to be rid of it. X

Leading on from this...would you ladies consider buying a second hand (why do people say 'pre-loved' nowadays) wedding dress?

I keep it in case I ever need to go psycho on him, I think the dress would add to it....

Near Bournemouth

Mine is in a suitcase in the wardrobe. I don't think I'll ever get back into it, so I'm saving it in case my daughter wants it.

I think there's a trend for buying vintage then customising

A world of my own

I got married at 16. I didn't have a special dress. I got divorced at 26.

I look longingly at gorgeous wedding dresses often, however I'm single and the chances of ever needing one are remote!

I'm seeing more and more customised dresses, 2nd hand, or upcycled ones.

A big earner for me is 'Trash the dress' shoots for divorcees, they buy old dresses and wreck them in spectacular ways. So there's use to be had out of them after the wedding too.

'Vintage'. An excuse to slap a 100% mark up on second hand tat.

People who skip surf for knackered old pine furniture then whitewash it.

Vintage. Just another word for old second hand.

It's a shame that some people increase the price of things once it's called 'vintage'.

Not sure which vintage shops you've ever gone to, but second-hand stuff is generally cheaper.

My wedding dress is in a box in the attic. Whenever I've moved and retrieved it from the attic to pack up, then I've looked at it, gasped at how gorgeous it is, tried the veil and headdress on (no way can I get the dress on) and packed it away in the attic again. I would never part with it

If anyone wants to donate do a search on Facebook for saying goodbye.
