Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

Apparently today is the 50th anniversary of the first UK cash machine in Enfield. It has been marked by making the one closest to the original gold.

They weren't that common when I was growing up and I didn't get a bank card that would allow me to use an ATM when I first had a bank account. Now I wonder what I would have had to do to get one.

I saw, somewhere, that if you are being mugged at the ATM and forced to enter your pin to withdraw money you should enter your pin backwards. That will trigger the machine to present the money but leave it stuck in the machine and trigger the camera to work.

I don't know if it's true or not though.

I would seriously doubt that works because banks would make that common knowledge as a security measure, not just random heresay

That's my assumption too... and there's no way to test it without having to get your card released, if it works.

There are lots of things that people don't know that they should, though. Like dialing "55" if you dial 999 and can't speak because you might put yourself or others in danger.

Leaping from no cards to contactless with no steps inbetween... before you know it you'll have AI doing everything.
