Saddest moments in Disney movies

Just watched a bit of the Disney Pixar's Up on Youtube earlier and those first 10 minutes sure are heartwarming yet very sad.

It was really sweet to see Carl and Ellie get married and have a very happy life together but it was really sad to see they couldn't have children and see Ellie die when they're in their senior years. What is much sadder is that her funeral was at the same church where they got married and Carl is the only one there and there was nobody there to give him some support

Cars when Lighting Mcqueen goes back to help The King over the finish line.

I found Dumbo quite moving.

Also Toy Story 3, i won't lie it got to the part where they looked like they were going to be incinerated and i did shed a tear.

Pocohontas, i loved the music in that.

Last 15 minutes of Toy Story 3 from the furnace scene onwards I was a total wreck - audibly sobbing, tears and snot the works!! Likewise the first 10 minutes of Up!!

There's so many great ones to mention the reason I love Disney is for how subtly emotive it can be to pull at your heart strings, wether it be a montage like In UP, a few simple worlds like with bing bong in inside out "take her to the moon for me" or even just we'll place sound bites/instrumentals like the gun shot in bambi or the barracuda attack in finding nemo.

It's not just stereotypical sadness they convey well either it's the sad/happy moments like when shadow re appears in homeward bound

It's what makes Disney films so timeless

It's probably easier to say which ones don't force a tear out. It's none of them, although my kids have grown I haven't watched the most recent crop.

Like many others, Toy Story 3 gets me every time.

As does the beast dying scene in Beauty and the beast - I least I got to see you one last time, and no, please don't leave me. There's not been one time I've been able to watch without crying and I've seen it countless times

Definitely when Beast dies in Beauty and the Beast - actually just as sad in the new version.

Although I was taken to see Cinderella for my first trip to the pictures and had to be carried out by mum as I was inconsolably sobbing when the ugly sisters ripped up her ball dress.

I've toughened up slightly since then and have perfected the art of silent cinema sobbing.

What also got me a bit teary eyed in Up was when Carl looks in the adventure book and sees all the photos of him and Ellie together over the years and a message Ellie wrote saying "Thanks for the adventure. Now start a new one"

Up has to be the saddest film in Disney history, yes ok it warms up but that is one of the most brutal starts to film I have ever seen. The kids were worried about me I was crying that much lol

When Todd gets dumped in the wood in The Fox & The Hound, and the old woman's dialogue over the top of the scene... I watched it with my mum a few months ago and forgot how sad it is and burst into tears.

Hunchback of Notre Dame - the part where Quasi is tied to the wheel and has vegetables thrown at him breaks my heart, as does God Help The Outcasts.

Tarzan, during the You'll Be In My Heart bit, and when the baby gorilla gets killed in the beginning.

Aladdin - the bit when Genie is set free has gotten to me since Robin Williams died.

And last of all - Beauty & The Beast. Tale As Old As Time, then when he realises he loves Belle but has to let her go, when she comes back and it's so happy, when the Beast almost kills Gaston then realises that if he did he'd be as bad as him, and the 'death scene'... I'm tearing up thinking about it

Had to bump this old thread back up as I've just remembered a sad moment from Disney's Sword In The Stone.

It was the scene when Merlin changes Arthur back from being a squirrel and the girl squirrel who was smitten with him is shocked at first but ends up heartbroken that he wasn't a squirrel, runs up the tree in tears.

It's such a sad and heartbreaking scene. I remember being in tears when I saw this as a kid. :,-(
