Do you think of yourself as creative? Do you have a particular way of expressing that creativity? Would you like to be more creative but aren't sure where to start?

I think I'm quite creative, I have my bionicle creatures to prove that!

On a serious note I think I can be creative given the opportunity but would not go out of my way to do something creative without influence.

I'm not sure if it's classed as creative but I bake.

I ice cakes and have made custom cakes for friends and family.

So don't create for creation's sake or the sheer joy as it were, but for a specific purpose?

Music and writing are where I enjoy being creative and have some natural skill. Music is the one I am best at and also the one I have studied the most. Visually, I lack the skill or the innate talent to draw, paint, craft or anything similar.

I can be very creative, but the key to it all for me is feeling inspired. If I'm inspired and in the right frame of mind I can often surprise myself with some of the things I can do. It can be quite a buzz.

Sometimes I may twiddle about on my guitar or take photos with my camera but what I'd really like to do more of is write. I'd love to be able to get into something like creative writing.

Ok I'm also creative with the truth -

I can write poetry, song lyrics and tunes, articles and papers on various subjects. I can turn shit photos into something more interesting. I create a lot of presentations. I cook - making up my own recipes and also like Wyrdo make wicked cocktails

I'm lazy though and really don't put any effort into developing my talent in any of those areas.

Oh flower arranging!!! I adore having fresh flowers in the house and gardening! And nothing beats singing. I'm singing along to music currently. And humming. I'm a big hummer. It's on my nursery school reports "we know when E is engaged in a task and focusing as she does her 'hum' and is oblivious to anything else, we know she's happy when she hums"

"Ok I'm also creative with the truth -

I can write poetry, song lyrics and tunes, articles and papers on various subjects. I can turn shit photos into something more interesting. I create a lot of presentations. I cook - making up my own recipes and also like Wyrdo make wicked cocktails

I'm lazy though and really don't put any effort into developing my talent in any of those areas.

That's better. You're very creative

Oh flower arranging!!! I adore having fresh flowers in the house and gardening! And nothing beats singing. I'm singing along to music currently. And humming. I'm a big hummer. It's on my nursery school reports "we know when E is engaged in a task and focusing as she does her 'hum' and is oblivious to anything else, we know she's happy when she hums" "

Yes I always have a vase of fresh flowers in the house. And I sing still but not like I used to. X

Yes and yes. And both are related to work, the cool bits anyway that actually feel like a paid hobby. But by buggery does my mind wonder so it seems that it's something I can't force... I have to be in 'that' right state of mind.

I really do enjoy the process when it happens though.

I marvel at people who seem naturally creative. I'm not suggesting they are, but they seem it and it's a lovely thing to watch.

I think other people see me as a lot more creative than I actually feel, because when I'm tasked with something specific, like making a special birthday cake, a fancy dress costume or an illustration, I'm quite accomplished and get a lot of compliments. Technically, I'm good at very detailed drawing and ink work (I've always liked photo realism and find it relatively easy to do - but time consuming). Thing is though, apart from a fleeting fancy every so often when I wish for more time (to do all sorts of things) I *never* think to draw - or create anything else - of my own accord. I just don't have that urge/inspiration any more, yet I used to draw constantly in every spare moment until my late teens .

I'm not creative at all. I've had teachers actually tell me this in school, too. I'm very linear and literal.

I always wished I was creative, though. I'm genuinely jealous of people who are.

Do you not see your knitting, as an example, as an expression of creativity? Or are you perceiving it as not truly creative as you're producing from a pattern, someone else's vision as it were?

"I'm not creative at all.

As you said, I see it more as me following someone else's pattern. Whenever I've tried to make my own pattern it's come out horribly.

But part of my initial impetus for knitting was precisely because I wanted to incorporate a bit more creativity into my activities. I think it's a skill. But it's definitely forced with me, and it makes me a bit sad, if I'm honest.

I feel sad that a teacher has explicitly told you that. I think that kind of appraisal when young often curbs the permission we give ourselves to explore/try and find our individual creativity. I don't think being linear/literal staunches creativity per se. But yes, I do get the difference in creating something fully from concept versus following an instruction, but I think both are creative nonetheless.

"I used to be but I seem to have lost my touch

No! It's there, you just need stimulation "

I still have the ideas just not the motivation.

I'm not a creative person at all.

I hate any kind of needlework or drawing or painting or any arts and crafts.

"I'm not sure if it's classed as creative but I bake.

I ice cakes and have made custom cakes for friends and family.

(sending op boob cake pic)"

Baking is very creative, especially if you are pushing the boundaries.

I think there's more ways to be creative than art and crafts

Central

I'm reasonably creative but don't express it in isolation ad much as I used to do, with lots of art. I include it now within my own pursuits, including cultivation and with things that I make as well as how I choose to go about living my life. I'm probably more balanced about it now as art had been a huge part of my life, though primarily a scientist

Yes, I've made a concerted effort to make time for some of my isolated pursuits to remind myself of things I can do.

"I'm creative

I do calligraphy

I create things out of wire

I make jewellery

I make clocks, dresses, clothes, cushions

I like to keep busy

Oh and I also do embroidery and cross stitch

That's a great list!

I used to do calligraphy when I was younger, gosh that's brought back memories!

I always fancied doing a jewellery (metal) course. I think I may have a look out for something. "

You should... try a college evening class, that's where I started

Mid Wales

Not sure if this counts but a lady in her verification said I was very creative....for designing dungeon and bondage furniture. I'm thinking of signing up for the degree course if I can find one....oh and I'll obviously be in need of a few willing victims for demonstration purposes...
