What are your opinions on couples sending bank details with the invitation?

I find it tasteless but I'm prepared to accept that I'm out of touch date.

Tasteless. I dont mind giving money. My friends daughter has a wishing well to put an envelope in or some ask for a donation. But bank details is just crass

I guess if there's an explanation along with it, such as, "money going towards honeymoon" then I'd be OK with it.

Many people already live together these days before getting married, so don't necessarily want gifts.

It is different from "the olden days". So are many other things. I guess we probably have to adapt?

This is what I was thinking. But why do I think that, it's not really any different to giving money

Never heard of that. Some people say they would accept donations to the honeymoon, instead of gifts. Personally, I'd tell people they don't need to give anything, just be at the wedding.

No, I did not either. And I am not saying I am particularly fond either. But I guess it means moving with the times? I never thought I would accept people being on mobiles when having dinner either

I know and accept that my attitude to things like this will be out of date. I wonder if that's reason to try and amend it.

dont like the bank account details - a girl at work is getting married soon and one of the ladies is making the wedding cake - what the bride doesnt know is that we have all put in to cover the cost and its going to be th gift from work as we didnt know what to get them - they have been together a long while have a couple of kids already and have struggled to save for the wedding -

That's a nice gesture.

I can see the sense in giving money, its better than buying them something they neither want or need. It just doesn't sit right with me for reasons I can't identify.

O o O oo

Tacky for me. We didn't even have a wedding list at our wedding as it felt like I was asking for people to bring presents and I didn't feel right about it so I sure wouldn't ask for money either

We have a thirty year old lace tablecloth in the airing cupboard and a canteen of cutlery that comes out on special occasions.
