"What are your opinions on couples sending bank details with the invitation? I find it tasteless but I'm prepared to accept that I'm out of touch date. " It is different from "the olden days". So are many other things. I guess we probably have to adapt?

"Tasteless. I dont mind giving money. My friends daughter has a wishing well to put an envelope in or some ask for a donation. But bank details is just crass" This is what I was thinking. But why do I think that, it's not really any different to giving money

"What are your opinions on couples sending bank details with the invitation? I find it tasteless but I'm prepared to accept that I'm out of touch date. I guess if there's an explanation along with it, such as, "money going towards honeymoon" then I'd be OK with it. Many people already live together these days before getting married, so don't necessarily want gifts. Poppy" Yes I can understand that.

"dont like the bank account details - a girl at work is getting married soon and one of the ladies is making the wedding cake - what the bride doesnt know is that we have all put in to cover the cost and its going to be th gift from work as we didnt know what to get them - they have been together a long while have a couple of kids already and have struggled to save for the wedding - " That's a nice gesture. I can see the sense in giving money, its better than buying them something they neither want or need. It just doesn't sit right with me for reasons I can't identify.

"Tacky for me. We didn't even have a wedding list at our wedding as it felt like I was asking for people to bring presents and I didn't feel right about it so I sure wouldn't ask for money either" ditto.. probably explains why we still have crystal sherry glasses we don't use but they were a present so will let our kids decide what to do with them one day..
