It's a trap lol.

Money's good, or can be.

Leaves you with zero time for yourself.

But can be fun paradoxically.

Good luck. Take your time, always take more room than you need.

When reversing, you need to set yourself up properly.

Nooooo most trucks have been autos for years now.

Although I did get to drive an Eaton TWIN split gearbox once, that was an ..... experience

Don't forget to demonstrate that most vital skill of multitasking - watching porn, talking to the boss on the phone, while simultaneously scoffing a ginsters pasty.

No it doesn't, red light means danger the police might be watching, green light means floor it and amber means go faster its about to turn red

Actually no, you know you have you stop for a red light, whereas a green can change at any second

Years ago I was asked to take fast track class hgv 1. 2 and coach tests in order enhance my qualification for volunteering on an overseas aid convoy.....

I was really lucky enough to get all three done ......

Two things about that experience I'll never forget ...

1) Just how inconsiderate car drivers can be and oblivious of the limitations large wagons drivers incur...

2) whenever I see anyone reverse an artic my arse goes into spasms ......I was bloody useless at going backwards and I've no idea how you guys do it so effortlessly ... lol

Ooh

That doesn't sound very convoyish!

I was looking forward to pulling my horn as well .... Paaahhh paaahh

The Eaton Twin-Splitter,one of the best boxes ever to be put in a truck, only need the clutch to pull off and to stop.Although in the hands of an amateur like my boss it becomes the gearbox of a thousand neutrals our old ERF tractor unit at work has got one in it,I love driving it have you ever tried a 13 speed Fuller or a 16 speed Spicer? So much better than the electric crap in trucks now,we had a V8 Scania with the Opticruise box and it was shit, the i-shift in the FH16 we replaced the V8 with is decent enough, but it's still nowhere near as good as the Eaton,Fuller or Spicer

No, never got to try them.

For the first half an hour my head was shot driving the Eaton. Then it just all clicked into place

All auto boxes are shit I think, lazy and decisive enough when changing.

Give me a 4 low 4 high anyday

We wanted a manual box instead of i-shift in the FH16 when we specced it but Volvo wouldn't do it,they reckon a manual box in a high bhp truck destroys clutches and halfshafts too quickly same excuse from Scania with the V8 when we specced that yet our ERF has been tweaked to 520bhp and we've never had an issue with clutches or halfshafts
