Why do people chose to have full blown domestic arguments in front of their kids. My neighbours decided to have a full blown one in the street. It's bad enough to do this in full view of everyone but I think it's awful when their kids are stood there shouting and crying because mum and dad was having a screaming match.

Now I'm not a nosey neighbour and never interfere but seeing and hearing those kids I had to go outside and take them into my house out the way of it all. Kids should not have to see or hear that.

Maybe it's because I was never brought up around that kind of behaviour.

The kids calmed down after I let them raid my freezer and let them play with my cats.

All is quiet now and mum came and collected them and thanked me for taking them to my house.

What would you have done in this situation, did I do the right thing or not?

Yes you did do the right thing. and shame on the parents, 1 for arguing in from of their children, and 2 for doing it in public.

same - i have memories of sitting at the top of the staircase and listening to mum mostly ranting and throwing stuff - i remember yelling at them to stop but they couldnt hear me

I couldn't sit there listening to those kids crying and telling them to stop.

I've never been in that environment as my parents never argued in front of us kids and my daughter hasn't either. It's not fair on the kids to be around it

What a really kind thing to do, I would've done the same I'm sure. A lot of people grow up like this, it's not great but you've done everything you could do xx

my next door neighbour often took me in with her kids for tea and let me sleep over -

We don't have domestic arguments in our house!

I'm not stupid, donas im told, lol.

On a serious note as we have said before, we grew up with that s**t and it's not nice for any child to see or hear.

No family is perfect & every relationship (whether its partners, siblings, parents even friends) has it arguments & fights. There is a difference tho between irregular arguments that Iv no problem with, even with kids there as it's not an ideal world & displaying love/affection plus disagreements can be healthy. What u described sounds alot more serious & traumatising. You did the right thing & also maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea to keep an eye out because domestic violence or constant fighting is not ok & some1 needs to watch out for our vunerable.

I'm in two minds about this but I think its good that you showed the children and the parents that you think its wrong.

My parents argued, like all parents do and I think as long as kids see parents working through the problem it prepares them for future relationships.
