If you find yourself in a potential terrorist attack, don't hang around waiting for the police to tell you what's going on, while you make snap chat videos about how scared you are. Just go the fuck home!

.

I agree with what your saying, Not just watching potential terrorist attacks its the same with car accidents and other incidents but sometimes you need another perspective on what's happened as you don't always get the full story with the main stream media

Instinct can be a defence mechanism or the catalyst for heroic behaviour...

Yep when faced with an attacker, fight or flight. Not "go and see what's going on, hang around a bit, it might be a terrorist attack. I wonder if I'll get any re-tweets".

Sometimes hero's are the most unlikely candidates for behaving like they do ...

The increasing profusion of tragedy voyeurism seems to be on the rise but that probably reflects the increase in tragic events

To stop and help someone is commendable

To stop and take videos is just plain stupid and is borne out of the desire to get that 15 seconds/minutes of 'fame'

I agree in some cases it seems insensitive and motivated by less than honourable intent , but by that same token as self confessed news junkie I will watch footage shot by these people where I feel it helps me get a perspective of the situation they've filmed

Oh, I watch it too. But I do always think, "what a dickhead; he could have been blown to bits by the secondary explosive right besides him". And all for what? It is hardly heroism

Heroism is like the firefighters who entered a burning building repeatedly to save people and not because they wanted to watch their faces on television

Boils my wosname, localish here last week at an illegal bike meet some dickhead wheelying a scooter hit another bike and the young girl has lost her leg. Yet there were loads of people there some who filmed the whole thing & then watched/filmed them putting said scooter (nicked) in the back of a van and driving off, not one person stopped two/three guys leaving the scene. Thirty odd years ago at Chelsea bridge bike night a car had two off and there were 50+ bikers chasing the driver through Battersea park. Caught him, gave him a little slap & gave him to the cops.

How times have changed
