It's cruel to keep cats indoors so your neighbour can't 'control' where they decide to roam or do their business.

Engage in conversation with your neighbour, maybe ask that they clean up after it or contribute to deterrent measures in your garden.

Cut up fresh lemons and just spread them round your garden, flower beds etc

Once every couple of weeks should keep the cats away

As cat owners ourselves, we appreciate that neighbours get annoyed by visits from the cats. We try to work with them rather than resorting arguments or them being cruel to our kitties. On one side, we've put a litter box and small shelter at the bottom of their garden. The old chap on the other side likes cats too and they keep him company when he leaves his doors open.

When we first moved into our house we used to get loads of cats in our gardens, they used to drive me mad, shitting in the garden and ruining my flower beds. We used to shout at them and scare them off as we saw them coming in and we don't have a problem anymore.

Cats want routine, an easy life and to claim territory. Disrupt those to break it.

Stop the routine - clear up, disrupt the behaviour using effective easier methods. They hate many strong smells, so use them where they're toileting. Consider motion activated water sprayer.

Block and disrupt entrances. Use similar stuff to above.

Put thorny plant trimmings where they shit - they'll avoid.

Change things frequently as they want ease and routine.

Borrow friends dogs which they'll see and smell. Put dog shit where it comes in for added effect.

The owner doesn't care because they don't get the mess

Keyes fluid the area they use to destroy their scent. Pick up the cat shit and chuck it back over the fence.

Alternatively have a chat with your neighbours. If they keep their cats indoors until after they have pooped ( in the litter tray) the problem might go away.

I was plagued by roaming cats crapping in my garden. Keyes was the only thing that kept them away, that and keeping the grass really short. I share the pain of anyone who can't enjoy their garden without cleaning up cat shit first.

I have a yard now. No shit. Cats still visit but nowhere to poop anymore.

i have 2 cats, both come home to use the litter box then bugger off out again which annoys me as I live near woods which they could use. but if they were doing it in someone's garden I would rather the person come and speak to me, there probably wouldn't be much I could do to stop it happening, after all cats are free roaming animals, but as a responsible pet owner, I would at the very least clean it up.

squirting with water, scaring them off etc I think is cruel,I have never even before I had my own cats done that to any animal plus trust me,if the cats wants to shit in ur garden it will..... they are stubborn sods.

i would rather my neighbour approach me and ask me to clean it than there be any bad vibes about my pets.

If you have a fence or wall around your garden,spread grease on top of it. Cats hate getting it on there paws,it stopped them at one of my old places.

After that,the most effective method,2 terriers,not had a cat problem for 14 years now.

lowered immune system. can be fatal if the cat gives them something, you may be advised to give up your own pets for this reason.

a pet that is kept in the home is less likely to give you rpoblems but as cats are often strays (ie. not surpervised when let out) they can be a cause of contamination to people. their poo would also be classed as a contaminate.

Our neighbour breeds cats. There is anything from 6 to 18 cats living there. Our garden is the litter tray for those cats and a few other local cats too. I have tried the orange and lemon peel, coffee grounds, sound omitters, zoo poo, and nothing has worked!

The cats try to get into the house and have jumped in through the windows! I appreciate that it's hard to control what cats do but I don't think it's too much to ask for someone to attempt to teach the cats to use a litter tray, but no one seems to care!

We have often seen cats toying with animals in the garden. They're not short of food so they are killing other animals just to play with. Birds, rabbits, mice and even a very small fox have been found in our garden killed by cats! Cats often seem to be very selfish arrogant animals! I'd be very intrigued if there are any other ideas to stop this! My kids have trodden in so much cat shit playing in the garden it's become very frustrating and there is so much of it that when we do the daily poo pick up there is always a bit that you miss! I think there should be more rules in place to make owners train there cats to use litter trays!

Owning any animal is a responsibility that people seem to often not take seriously!

the bushes worked for me. i live next door to a crazy cat lady also. she actually kept going for weekends away and leaving her cats locked out, then whinging in pet groups on fb that her 'much loved' cat had gone missing..

it also got rid of the flea problem my lawn had also. every time i went out i was being bitten. seriously they can give your lawn a flea problem.

i also have a child safety gate to keep them out my house (well out of the room where my pets are so they can't be eaten or their cage knocked over).

you can't do a lot as the law doesn't even recognise cats as pets because of the amount of people who get them and don't treat them as pets. and i don't give into this BS about cats need to be dumped outside, dogs also love roaming but we train them not to.

I have 3 cats, they were all adult cats when I got them. 2 Shit outside and 1 uses the litter tray. Whilst I agree that ideally cats use litter trays, it's impossible to train a rescue cat that's been taught to Shit outside not to. I keep some empty plant points in the garden for them to poo in but they do go in other gardens too.

i know what you mean. as a carer i have had a lot of experience with incontinence. often let my carees shit in peoples gardens coz they can't help it.

all toilet training anything is helping someone/something recognise when they need to evacuate, really is that simple. of course they have to be within your realm of care for you to do that.

I can appreciate being on the receiving end isn't great. On the other side, there isn't much the neighbour can do.

We had a similar (opposite) problem. Our grumpy neighbour complained about our cat doing it, I said to him I've told the cat but it took no notice.

Short of a 5m high wall, it's an awkard problem, just try to not blame the neighbour or the cat. As others have said, sprayers or cat pepper etc worth a try.

A pet owner should take responsibility for the animal they choose to have, cat poo is harmful! I personally wouldn't have a cat as I wouldn't want to harm anybody and I definetly wouldn't want to take responsibility for it just going a poo wherever it wanted!! I also know people that have cats and have trained them to only poo in litter trays........... either train your pets or don't have them, stop making excuses

There is a mint called cat mint you can buy apparently its good for detering cats Thou I,m not certain but also garlic gloves crushed and spread around, and also cut holly when it drys cats don,t want that around them, you just have to be careful when working in those areas or OUCH.

I personally wouldn't have a cat as I wouldn't want to harm anybody and I definetly wouldn't want to take responsibility for it just going a poo wherever it wanted!! I also know people that have cats and have trained them to only poo in litter trays........... either train your pets or don't have them, stop making excuses "

Nahhhh there's more than one dog breed that can handle a kamikaze moggy ,my two mullered a neighbouring cat that decided to pop round uninvited....last thing it ever did

And before that loony starts again the RSPCA came and removed it..they said they wanted to check the dogs after they took the cat away... that's when I knew they were stupid thinking a cat stood any chance with two gsd's..so you can stuff your crazy idea about getting reported ...

My dogs chase cats around the garden all the time if they are unfortunate to visit.

They have only got to one once after crashing into the fence it was sat on. I was quick to intercede getting scratched for my efforts. The neighbour saw it and complained to me but at the end of the day if she wants her cats to roam my dogs will be doing the same in their garden.

Cats continue to visit and get terrorised to this day.

I found keeping back a considerable amount of citrus fruit peel run through a blender keeps them out of planters.

Dogs will be dogs and cats will be cats.

I do too. Fucking annoying the hell out of me. She doesn't get rid of brambles and stingers either and they always work there way into my garden as well (advice please). So I'll be watching this thread intently.

The main source of growth that is the whole plant roots and all needs removeing you could use a stong killer glycophosate its helped me to manage Ivy I,ve some bind next to try it on, nettles and brambles are ok in the right areas but are a nuisance like the ones you get have you asked her if you can dig it out preferably from her side not easy to deal with one side only, the killer I mentioned may help a bit from yourside but thats perhaps all but be careful with that because it is deadly stuff like any killers are really.
