Anyone been off work for illness lasting a week?

Never had a sick day in 2 years but a week is well over due! It'll be completely out of the blue!

I think if you're off for a week you need a sick note. But don't quote me

I've had the week off as a holiday.

I have been off for a week after I recovered from an operation and had to be signed off by the doctor for a week but that's a different story.

"I think if you're off for a week you need a sick note. But don't quote me"

You can sign yourself off for 7 days but it includes weekends even if you don't work them.

Most companies will ask for a self certification form on return.

When employed and much younger, I took the odd day off on 'sick'. But now, being a small company employer, I see the actual cost in monetary terms and other colleagues having to make up for being a man down.

What's wrong with putting in leave? I think a week on false sick is taking the mick tbh....

I've taken the odd sick day off when needing to rest or clear my head when younger.

Only had one sick day off in the last year but that was suggested by the doctor after I got shingles.

Never thrown a sickie in ma life, but was well pissed off when I spent 14 nights in the DRI with a pulmonary embolism and nearly came out in a wooden box 11 yrs ago.

Been sent home a couple of times (was working on site) when ma psoriatic arthritis was kicking in about 3 years ago.

Am now on long term ESA, and I wish I could work everyday.

You're human and therefore you cannot help illness even I it does last a week. Why should anyone judge you for that?

Are you under stress, do you feel you "need" time off for emotional or mental health reasons? I don't think a week is too much to ask under those circumstances, especially if it forestalls a longer period of illness later.

If you just feel like a week off I don't think its fair on colleagues.

He doesn't mean he is actually ill. He is planning a week off on 'sick' and is looking for plausible ones....

Pull a sicky if you want. I won't judge. Unless you get paid for being off sick. In which case I shall label you!!
