a mother in the US has received a 12 month probationary sentance (reduce from 3 after pulic uproar).

she was prosecuted for 'jaywalking' whne she and her 2 kids were hit by a d*unk driver. her original sentance was longer than the driver got.

nex thing you know the driver will be asking for compensation cos her son damaged his car

madness!!!

next murderers will be suing their victims families for being "forced" to do it just because the victim was there at the time.

Jaywalking is taken very seriously in the US, and I've found car parks are worse to walk through than in the UK, i.e. very little pedestrian awareness.

If I walked along a railway line with my kids and one was killed by a train do we blame the train driver ? D*unk or not.

If the woman hadn't of walked her kids in an illegal manner would the d*unk driver of got home safely?

If two people are responsible for the death of a child. Do we punish just the one that killed them accidentally or is the one that eschewed their adult and parental responsibility culpable too ?

Who endangered their life in the first place ?

i'm right behind you on this one granny.

like you,i often wonder why, drink driving is an offence,in the first place.

if they get home safely, with no incidents.where's the harm,in having a wee bevvy, before driving home.

as for those b******* crossing the road, hang them high.

ps nice to have you back.

I think we should have jaywalking laws here, the number of numpties who dash out in front of cars is truly astounding, and it's getting worse - they seem to dare you to run them over! I am truly tempted! Z
