Clutch is fucked if the car is a manual

If the car is an automatic check the gearbox oil as lack of fluid can cause this. If low, top up immediately. If not...... gearbox is fucked

Should have told him you've pulled a lot more interesting things in your life than a car bonnet.

Sounds like. if it still moves, there may be some kinda flywheel involved, a guess, not sure if flywheels are in automatics, but its a "maybe".

Yes it starts fine just when he used it today going to work noticed there was no power like the clutch is slipping.

I was asked to pull my bonnet whiler I was sat in the dirvers seat still and I couldnt reach when I bent forward towards the catch cos my boobs wedged against the steering wheel... ..... the mechanics were pissing themselves when I had to get out and reach back inside the car to do it in a very unlady like crouching position. I obviously need longer arms...

hyundai do have problematic clutches which can be an arse to daignose properly. Di the car vibrate at all or judder prior to its lay up or did it slip when the power was applied ? if thats the case then the clutch is snafu.

There could be a simpler problem the linkage between the selector lever and the gearbox could be at fault.

sorry cant be any more help on this issue

Easy solution to this problem . . . . the box is not broken, its just modified itself into a non working state, the fix for this would be to open the passenger window, pour in some petrol and set the old banger on fire! cheapest and most humane way of dealing with that problem!

Does the engine rev excessively , without the car accelerating ? or does it just lack power ?

if its the first one , quite possibly needs automatic gear oil topping up or changing , before you throw money at it .

if it just lacks power , could be engine related , spark plugs , ht leads , coil pack etc .
