I watch the news all the time, when I'm home 503 is the background channel that's always on but lately, obviously, we've had back2back horrible things happen and it's kind of annoying the way it's reported.

Anyome else feel like there's almost a sense of excitement amongst the reporters when they cover these horrific events?

Yes, sky news is notorious for it. Seem to thrive on people's pain and suffering.

Just seems like they don't show any empathy do you know what I mean, like I know they can't be standing there wailing and getting upset but no matter who the reporter is they never seem genuine.

Oh it riles me up when they're interviewing someone and that person is clearly upset, then the reporter cuts them off and asks a different question whilst the poor fucker is baring their soul. So disrespectful

I don't think it is that as such... but I do think that they are too intrusive in the reporting...especially with people waiting on news of what has happened to friends and relatives

For example they had the sky news main presenters broadcast from the estate next to the building and over there shoulders you could see the building still on fire... and I am thinking do we need to see that

Victoria Derbyshire put her arm around a guy who was upset yesterday. I thought 'well done you girl'. She looked quite shaken by it all.

YES!!! I was disgusted yesterday when they were parading that little kids homework. How do they know that child is lay in that building still. And they're showing this poor child's homework. It's a personal artifact and shouldn't have been shown.

I know we have a choice as to whether we watch the news but us general public won't get trauma counselling like blue collar people and we aren't really trained for seeing stuff like that. Well I'm sort of ok with seeing some stuff as I used to be a crime and trauma scene cleaner but there's something disrespectful about showing the building all the time.

It's gotta be something about it cos I'm quite macabre and I've watched and seen horrific things but there's something unsettling about seeing that building all the time. It's knowing there's undiscovered bodies still inside that's unsettling me.

i don't think they do so, it can be difficult keeping ones emotions in check as a human being when you have a job to do that in a situation such as the recent tragedy requires you to focus on something specific..

they are probably damned if they do and damned if they don't so to speak..

Those poor people need love, support, answers, reassurance and not a camera in the face!

Quality journalism is no more! Camping on the doorstep of a horrific event is now the norm and it will get worse!

I have 503 on in background a fair bit and I do get where you're coming from OP.

I fail to see why they have to dedicate every resource and every minute of coverage to it - as if there isn't any other news to report on the day.

And because they are dedicating everything to it, they need to find all manner of faf to fill the time with and so you get armchair 'experts' coming on speculating about this that and the other when they really have absolutely no bloody idea whatsoever

Let the emergency teams do their jobs for goodness sake.

I can't agree with all of that, but there is almost always an agenda and with a media owned by a pretty exclusive club it isn't surprising.

Akala makes some brilliant observational points in his interviews regarding something along these lines. Youtube has a fair few of them.

I do agree that unfortunately there is little integrity left and only a few journalists seem to actually be more than a face that is told what to say anymore.

Jon Snow on Channel four is possibly the only one that I truly respect still. His report after he had spent time in Gaza still gives me shivers and gets a bit of grit in my eye.

I have the radio as my background and it's not 24/7 speculation and repeated images.

The constant news on non news channels, when there is a tragedy, desensitise us to what should be horrifying and upsetting. I restrict what I see.

There was an interview on BBC24 today and the guy could barely speak, and was left to just struggle on for over 5 mins. It was obvious to anyone that he should never had been put on camera.
