Im 23 and never been to a live concert before.. had tickets to see Bon Jovi once but booked the wrong dates off work and felt guilty about pulling a sickie. Spent hours on the phone/internet before trying to apply for tickets to various other gigs but never been successful

Logged Facebook this morning to find out that my favourite band are touring the UK and i am BUZZING!!!

Fingers crossed i can get tickets.. i will be on the phone/internet at 9am sharp on Friday!! Evenescence tickets will be mine *evil laughs*

Got some freebie tickets from a client to go see Fleetwood Mac at Newcastle Arena. If I had wasted good money on them I'd have been gutted. The sound was all wrong and at one point Mick Fleetwood had 5 drum kits on the stage to satisfy his ego. We left before the end. A few weeks later I met a friend and she told me she had been to a dire concert and they walked out - yep, it was Fleetwood Mac.

I'm glad Peter Green left them only with the band name - he's not daft!!

They sure can 'go their own way'

I've seen loads of great bands over the years but the best, value for money, and most enjoyable was The Specials.

The worst waste of time and money was UB40.

Perseverance is the key when looking for concert tickets, just hang in there and keep trying. I've been to am awful lot both by bands i love listening to all the time, and ones i'm not so into but are very good live. Nothing like the experience of a live band, good luck with the tickets!

Plymouth Pavillions used to have some great bands play there, Kim, and they don't usually charge over the top for tickets

I LOVE going to gigs.

Seen Metallica, years ago. Bon Jovi twice in the same week. Take That the last 3 times they played Cardiff. Robbie Williams. Mcfly twice. Westlife. This year, I've been to T4 on the beach, Ponty's Big Weekend both in the last month and have seen lots of acts including The Wanted, The Midnight Beast, Example, Katy B, Twenty Twenty, Olly Muirs.

Have tickets in December for Example

Need to book tickets for Feb to see The Wanted!!

In my defence, I take my 14 year old daughter to most of these

Best ever - either Jimmy Webb with just a piano in a poorly-attended small theatre, or the Clash at Belfast Students' Union or Big Audio Dynamite at a small sweaty club. The worst - definitely Van Morrision - a surly, unpleasant little man - I was given free tickets and I felt like asking for my money back at the end!

i think £28.50 is good for a ticket. It just gets on my tits when people with no intentions of going to the gig buy tickets to flog on ebay.. grrrrrrrrrr

My sister saw George Benson in Milan a few years back. She said he came up to her group in the bar and asked how they liked the show. She told him he should have had backing singers to help enhance him. He agreed apparently: little sis would tell Quincy Jones how he should arrange things!

I loved seeing Stevie Wonder and Luther Vandross at Wembly: two fantastic performers.

Worst: Isley Brothers at the Albert Hall. £50 for half hour of medley's: they didn't sing one complete song. Their support acts were dire! I wouldn't have felt so bad if it'd been the Fairfield Hall for a tenner!

Was amazing to be at that one, even better than this year, even though I'm a huge Robbie fan.

I was close enough in the Circus tour, to get wet, when they sung "Back For Good"!!

Only reason I went was coz my friend won 5 tickets on Rock FM. Gotta admit tho, I did enjoy it as I was into them when I was a teenager lol

my best gigs have been ian dury and the blockheads and the specials, both before they got famous , both in small venues, amazing life changing events x

Jimmy James and The Vagabonds and The Foundations are resident acts and them old boys still know how to entertain.

A group of us from here had a social at Skeggy last October and had a great time. We're doing it again this year at Minehead.

been to loads over the years but a fave is Blondie we go to see them every time they are over here except this year we were going to see them in Nottingham with Scissor Sisters but it ended up being the weekend our son was home so couldn't go was gutted so will be the first year with no gigs unless something crops up later in the year

the funniest was Buzzcocks

a friend of ours knows them and asked if we wanted to go on the guest list well i jumped at it he was putting us and another couple on the guest list but the other couple couldn't go in the end so was just us, so i walked upto the door all cocky like and declaired "we're on the guest list" he took our names, read the list, read it again and then turned to me and said "sorry love but your not" i just wanted to die "please check again" i pleaded holding my breath as he did "nope no sign of ya" nooooooooo "let me look" i asked hoping the guy just needed his glasses but no he was right we weren't on it but the other bloody couple that pulled out were ffs

luckily i rang my friend and he sorted it out and we got in but i sure learnt my lesson i'll never be so cocky in future just in case and i look a fool in front of everyone in the que

ended up being a really good night and even got to go for a drink with the band after too so it made up for my red cheeks and i forgave friend for mix up

Totally agree with Oldestswingerintown! Van Morrison was the worst. Walked on stage, sang for an hour and a half and walked straight off. Never acknowledged the audience at all in any way whatsoever. Tickets weren't cheap either, put me right off his music and i've never listened to him since. Totally ignorant and arrogant!

best - Toris Amos - that girl knows how to put goosebumps down your spine.

Worst Stereophonics at the MEN. Sounded so flat I walked out half way through.

Do like local gigs though and try and see a few new faces when I can, never know if they become famous. Good local band are The Stories - very good punk band

Morrissy, Fleetwood Mac(was deaf for 2 days after as I was right at the front), Springsteen at Wembley, best though was The The at the Royal Albert Hall.The backing singer got a bigger cheer at the end than Matt Johnson or Johnny Marr, as she took her shirt off to reveal her bra(poor lass must have been hot

)

We had the most amazing night when Janet booked tickets for us to see Faithless (both are big fans) at Brixton academy, it was later announced as their penultimate gig & the atmosphere was electric. By the time they played "we come 1" everyone was in an ecstatic frenzy.

We also saw Elton John at Northampton cricket ground which was a picnic in the park affair & a trip down memory lane made all the better with the wonderful company of some lovely friends we met on here. Kinda made it special :0).

worst one i went was Diana Ross - glasgow secc glasgow 1994

Best (for the sheer fun of it)- Horslips Apollo, 1982, I think.

Lynyrd Skynyrd, Knebworth- blew The Stones off the stage.

Worst- Horslips 2011

Steeleye Span- walked out along with half the audience

And a poor wee soul as a support act at the Apollo who was boo-ed off the stage in tears- a harsh audience

Been to some great gigs. The Coral/Music NME tour stopped of at the Leadmill when I was 18 (wow that was a while ago) and that was amazing!! The Coral blew the roof of the place. Had such huge hopes for the Coral.

Arctic Monkeys at the Magma in Rotherham was unique, a local band on the crest of a wave, a brilliant venue and me and my best mates up for some naughtiness lol.

But the two times I caught Oasis have to be my favourates. Just perfect, that night I was rock'n'roll star

Oh and the Hives get a definate honourable mention!! Really good gig.

Best - The Freddie Mercury Tribute at Wembley

Worst - Blondie last friday in york, sound was terrible, huge dissapointment as they were a band i had always wanted to see live

I thought Van Morrison was quite good when i saw him, was just after his album a night in San Francisco was released, although he did seem rather d*unk and left Brian Kennedy to sing a lot of the songs

Smaller venues, probably T-Rextasy (T-Rex tribute) at The Witchwood, Ashton-Under-Lyne or an Elvis impersinator going by the name of Elvis Himselviss !

He was so bad it was good

Never been to a bad gig but I believe the last couple of Whitney Houston ones have been pretty bad.

a Tip For Sassy, try registering online with teh ticket agencies, such as Ticketmaster etc, you do not have to purchase buut they do tend to email out well in advance of tickets going on sale, and also sell a day or to early to general sale for people who are registered with them.

Thats the gig i was thinking of, drove a minibus up from Leeds, because one of the ladies was disabled we got a parking place near the entrance to stadium, unfotunatly after the gig it took longer to get out teh car park than the actual drive home

The Commitments were a great live band. Saw them about 10yrs ago and again about 5yrs ago at Truro.

Also saw an Eagles tribute band, The Illegal Eagles, that were amazingly good.

"Main stage gigs probably Rod Stewart at Hampden Park or Dolly Parton at The Point, Dublin.

Smaller venues, probably T-Rextasy (T-Rex tribute) at The Witchwood, Ashton-Under-Lyne or an Elvis impersinator going by the name of Elvis Himselviss !

He was so bad it was good

Never been to a bad gig but I believe the last couple of Whitney Houston ones have been pretty bad.

was the Roddy one the one just after Hampden got rebuilt? cant remember what year it was, had Big Country amongst the support, that was a hell of a good gig i must admit

it would have been late 90's - am sure the support was big country and bizarelly an abba tribute act as openers !

Just to add saw Roddy at elland Rd a few months ago, the support was even mor bizzarre a trad jazz band no one could hear, and they played for nearly 2 hours

LOVE going to gigs....

I can't say I've ever been to a bad gig...except one of my own about 10 years ago, when we had a shit sound engineer & no-one could hear me (lead vocals) or the keyboard player. Complete nightmare, SO embarrassing! I miss those guys...

I've seen, My Ruin (x7), Riders of the Storm, 30 Secs to Mars, Bon Jovi, Clawfinger, Amen, Download fest (x2), Bowling for Soup, Ocean Colour Scene, AFI, Slipknot...oh I saw Brain May with Kerry Ellis the other week (not really my cup of tea but the tickets were free & the guy can play)

Waiting for Buckcherry & Black Stone Cherry to tour & would love to see Incubus.

If you're into soul bands, check "The Soul Survivors"

Superb musicians and a guaranteed great night. Great horn section, great vocals, a top show, and it wont cost you a lot of money either.

So many good gigs....The best was The Ramones also not far behind Sleepy LaBeef, The Cramps, Meteors, King Kurt, Guana Batz, The Long Tall Texans Stray Cats, Bo Diddley and The Pouges...The worst Matchbox at a small club in north London...awful!

I just remember we couldn't get a taxi and we had to walk back across Glasgow which took ages - why do ladies wear high heels to concerts ?

If you ever get the chance try Kevin Pearce, local guy (colchester )just about to break into big time, he is a singer / songwriter with the most haunting voice i have ever heard, well worth a Tenner to see him

Fab,nothing beats a live gig, no i an old and mumsie i rarely get to do much except folk but have some great memories.

Best gig, toss up between James/Katherine Tickell/ Mrs Woods(ok a DJ but a gig is a gig )and BB king

Worst...none,they all had good points!

. I saw them in Glasgow. Not great fan of the music but they were excellent! Lead guy ranked something like 5th best guitarist in the world. Have to say the row in front of us were all shagging and swapping so it was a bit distracting
