I did the 96 T, brilliant line up in those days and looking back hard to believe Foo Fighters and Prodigy were far from headliners.

I've been to loads of festivals, glad to have done Glastonbury in the late 80s and early 90s before it went huge, did Reading the year Nirvana headlined and never been back, loved Select festival up by Oban the 2 years that was on. Last one 1 went to was Hellfest in France and it was better than any British festival. This year might do Shiiine but being at Butlins not sure it;s really a festival. If I ever go to another festival it will be overseas and not in the UK

Total live music lover too - placebo later in the year, blink 182, Bros all sorted - and even braved Robbie Williams earlier this week. Eclectic doesn't even come close!!

Wouldn't go to one now but did a few in the 90's. Glasto '94 was awesome.

The last (and most fun) one I went to was Kendall calling about 9 years ago. Line up wasn't great but my boyhood heroes EMF were playing. Invaded the stage during 'unbelievable' and got thrown out by security, sneaked back in, got backstage and hung out with the band who were total gents!

Didn't think I could ever top that so never been to a festival since.

West Wales and Cardiff

Off to Green Man yet again.

Glastonbury 2000 was probably my favourite experience. It was the year when the police said the security had to be sorted in future or else!

Was amazingly good fun, but with a real edge - Scousers and Mancs every few yards flogging cans of "cold" Stella from a steepling tower of 24 packs that had been out in the sun for hours (and "other merchandise" too!).

A gorgeous woman invaded the stage and danced with the Happy Mondays for ages.....naked. If I ever meet the cameraman, I'll shake his hand for the shameless close-ups.

Some blokes from the Valleys gave a hitchhiker a lift home. When they stopped the van and opened up the back to let him out he was dead.

I think there was some good music too

I recommend going to festivals abroad (see some of my pics), as in my experience they are better value and have less restrictions on camping/bringing your own booze and less nobheads.

U.K. Exception to this would be Festival No.6, which has the most spectacular location of any of them..

It was The Peace Convoy that burnt the tree, the oldest oak tree there .... not very peaceful !! I looked online about the dates and it seems to be 1981 to 1986. I went twice and one year saw The Cure and i think Clint Eastwood and General Saint. I can't remember who i saw the year before ! Some HA from Leicester went one year and were struggling to be allowed entrance to it. My ex vaguely knew some of them (we were bikers) and oddly some were allowed entrance just because he knew them although i have no idea why that helped them lol. I got really sunburnt at the beach one day and had to spend the rest of the day with very few clothes on because my skin hurt with clothes on. Many others were almost naked anyway

"I've never been to a festival...or even seen a band live

It's one thing I want to do, not sure which one to go to though"

Dude!! That's crazy talk you live in Bristol!! Get the full listings for The Fleece, pick something where the description piques your interest, have a listem online and get yourself down there. Stand at the bar, have a beer, watch some bands.

Might become your new favourite thing to do.

...Up on the Downs

"My first was Windsor Free Festival in '74 lol, I want to relive some hippie days!

mam and dad took me to those when i was young ... still got memories of running around the queens back yard playing with the other kids and later on hundreds of old style coppers on the rampage with truncheons, beating people over the head.

Yes I was there when the police broke it up but managed to avoid a truncheon.

we would be over at the henge prior to that with the wallys .... the following year i got taken to Watchfield ... it was a lot calmer than windsor 74 .... here's a vid of Strife playing live at watchfield

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MWJdJ3JudUQ"

There's loads of pics from Windsor on a site somewhere, everyone looks like someone I knew lol!

God knows what my parents were thinking letting me go away, damn sure they didn't know where I was going!!

We have seen Coldplay loads of times, mostly in football stadiums. They are brilliant live

"Im watching Isle of Wight highlights and regretting my decision not to go to any big festivals this year!

Who's going to one this year and what was your best ever? "

Been to many this year with work already in Europe. Favourite one is still Werchter in Belgium and in the UK it's Belladrum, near Inverness. Great wee festival sans neds.
