What about a newspaper from the day you were born to remind him what was going on in the world that day. You can get them online. Or a collage of old and new family photos always works. Or take him for a day out somewhere he'd be interested in, a castle or something.

i would sy time - go to aplace you like to go to or relive a childhood memory - a day at the zoo or picnic in the park
