Half Pennies !!

So I was just telling my kids a story from

when I was a wee pup...

I told them about buying half penny sweets to get 20 sweets in a mix up that

cost 1st

THEY WERE BAFFLED !!

I'm only 40yrs and now feel ancient !!

Anyone else have their kids look at you as if your a dinosaur !!

I'd understand if you didn't say "cost 1st"!! If you said "cost 10p" you'd have my full backing! !

Agh now little Wren, you ain't old at all!! I've friends there that work with me and I tell them things ant theye are like you're ancient and I'm like aye and me I am I'd still beat you in a 100 yard sprint but I mind auld lads telling me things when I were a young babe and I'm like away on will ya lol, its just part of the big wheel of life it keeps on turning and moving on

I was explaing to my daughter how my first mobile phone in 1993 only made calls and didn't even store numbers. She is 13 and has an S7 and seemed totally confused as to what we used them for apart from calls. Further explained there was no internet then so it was just a phone and it blew her mind.

I remember the 10p mix! Flying saucers, cola bottles etc haha. Makes me think of the 1/2p coin!

Blimey!

I've actually shown my children what we used to listen to music on - vinyl.

Still got my 7" records. I even have the one my daughter is named after. It's a little ditty by that Clapton chap with his band Derek and the Dominoes and was released the year before I was born.

Just shows how much technology has changed. In my lifetime, I have seen the CD launched and then superseded.

Much like what happened to the humble video recorder.

Actually now loving this thread !!

I remember a Thursday evening my dad came home with kitkats in his work coat pockets, then me and brother got our pocket money which clubbed together, went to the corner shop around our way and bought 3 packets of angels delight (sstrawberry, banana and choclate) always milk in the fridge and me and my Bro would use the little hand held metal whisk and make a three layer Angels Delight in my mum's baking bowl !!

It took a fee hours to get perfect lol

Then we halved it and scoffed the lot !! :D

Aha. Now I'm too young to remember only 3 channels, but I remember being seven or eight and a TV engineer came round to do something so we'd be able to pick up Channel 5 and it was this big new exciting thing
