"Just a polite no thankyou,if a no can be polite " Thank you for saying this, if you are polite then there's a good chance people will be polite back To block out of hand is the norm in so many peoples eyes, and it's easy enough to say sorry, not for me first, and block if you have to if you receive any abuse

"I used to reply no thanks yo every message yhat I wasn't interested in but then you get met with a barrage of "why nots??" You are entitled to block who you like for whatever reason you like. You are saving them wasting their own time in continuing to contact you so doing them a favour "

"The facility is there. Use it if you want to. Being polite on here can lead to more messages, usually asking why or then being abusive. Sometimes it's easier just to block " Tbh I've never had any abuse. I usually just say 'Sorry you're not for me, take care x"

" It's rude to name people in the forum and against site rules. I'm not talking first messages she started the conversation I politely answered back and friended her as requested so it was rude and impolite to block without saying why,. I appreciate that some women get swamped and I don't expect answers to all messages " Not sure if it's considered rude, by most, it's just the way it works on here. But as I said I personally would send a message, before I blocked.

Maybe the rules should be changed , or as I've been told very often I'm too old for this site " The rules don't need to be changed, otherwise anybody can post anything about anybody, regardless of validity. Regardless of that, it currently is the rule, so you need to not do it.

"Hi...I'm new here and need some advice please.... How rude is it to block someone after seeing his photo...or would it be better to just send a message but saying what??? Blocking saves time with any follow-up message....? Thanks in advance...." My advice is a polite no thankyou or read your profile and not my type. I'm not needing to explain thank you. If they ask why block. You've been polite and he stepped over your request.

Which bearing in mind they haven't had the courtesy to read our profile, to realise we wouldn't meet them anyway, I think is quite good on my part.

When one is actively looking to meet and play , it's pointless to carry on messaging when you're not in the slightest bit interested . The adult thing to do would be to suck up the block and look elsewhere .

"I got a "not my type" then blocked. Found it kinda rude." I think it's the next politest thing to do after just a message. Blocking may seem like over kill but it stops either of you finding each on searches etc when one of you has already decided it's a no. And you do hear some stories of abuse being thrown by the turned down person. I don't know if I annoy people by messaging them back saying I appreciate actually getting an answer and wishing them luck on here. But I do, unless they block me - the thing I find most annoying about being blocked is that (I obviously liked their pics) and I'll never get a chance to perv at any of their new ones

"We're not keen on blocking, and it does jarr with me if someone blocks us. That just seems to close doors. We're never going to meet probably 99.99% of Fab, but logically if we block every single person we're never going to meet, then there will be no profiles left for us to perve at and nobody to Fab our pics. People who have blocked us, I can't respond to them in the forums as that's against forum rules, and that puts me off blocking as I feel the forums should be about freedom of expression. But ultimately, how embarrassing would it be if we met someone at a party, hit it off and wanted to play, and then discovered that they'd blocked us or we'd blocked them? No, we only block if someone has become a nuisance or if they send an offensive message. We would also block if we knew them or they lived very near. Mrs" understand what youre saying here - and we have chatted to people that this has happened to - we laughed it off as people and profiles come across differently as when meeting face to face - same way as meeting someone at a club or party and when you go home, check out the profile you think id never have given them a second look -

Their Fab profile had loads of action shots and barely any text, felt we were after different things so sent a Thanks but no thanks reply and blocked. Then we met at a club, didn't realise it was them until the next day and it was a totally different story. The profile really didn't present them well. We confessed and explained why the profile had been a turn off, and we've met several times since. Based on this we have probably missed out on some gems but what we don't know doesn't hurt.

"the block saves a hundred words sometimes - it can be - thanks for the pic but sorry not for me - counter reply - why what dont you like about me - i reply - i dont have to give the reason but its a no - just block " I just block these days. I find that if you even remotely converse with guys on a 'no thanks' basis, they then pop up trying to make small talk at a later date, which is a waste of time for everyone. If I know I'll never meet the person on a sexual level, I just block. If they take it personal I won't lose sleep over it

" This by no means justifies haranguing or abusing anyone who doesn't want to take things further, but most people aren't completely devoid of feeling, and the potential for offence to be taken as a result of a 'no thanks' or a block is very real.." My take would be that Fab probably isn't going to be much fun for you if your feelings are hurt or you are offended by someone who you have only ever had contact with online , possibly no contact with at all, blocking your access to their profile. There are plenty of people on here, focus on the ones who do want to interact.
