Hi...I'm new here and need some advice please....

How rude is it to block someone after seeing his photo...or would it be better to just send a message but saying what???

Blocking saves time with any follow-up message....?

Thanks in advance....

Why would you want to message someone whom you want to block?

Is it because you asked to see his pics..and then decided that he's not your type?

You can either reply 'sorry, you're not my type', and it'll end there, or you could send that message and then get loads of abuse so end up blocking him anyway. Some people prefer cutting out the first stage to avoid the abuse. It's certainly not rude to block someone though. You don't owe them anything.

It's much kinder to send a message saying "not my type". Or at least I think it is.

"Just a polite no thankyou,if a no can be polite "

Thank you for saying this, if you are polite then there's a good chance people will be polite back

To block out of hand is the norm in so many peoples eyes, and it's easy enough to say sorry, not for me first, and block if you have to if you receive any abuse

I used to reply no thanks yo every message yhat I wasn't interested in but then you get met with a barrage of "why nots??"

You are entitled to block who you like for whatever reason you like. You are saving them wasting their own time in continuing to contact you so doing them a favour

The facility is there. Use it if you want to. Being polite on here can lead to more messages, usually asking why or then being abusive. Sometimes it's easier just to block

To me blocking is the last resort, when someone is rude/impolite nor disrespectful to someone else and this for no reason or someone abusive, or too pushy.

People that can't take no as an answer are the worst.

It's much more polite to send a no thank you message. I would always reply to that with thank you for the reply. I was on here previously as a single fem and why block until someone is rude to you. As soon as they are rude, then block. Please don't think we are all rude.

It's rude to name people in the forum and against site rules.

I'm not talking first messages she started the conversation I politely answered back and friended her as requested so it was rude and impolite to block without saying why,. I appreciate that some women get swamped and I don't expect answers to all messages

Not sure if it's considered rude, by most, it's just the way it works on here. But as I said I personally would send a message, before I blocked.

The rules don't need to be changed, otherwise anybody can post anything about anybody, regardless of validity.

Regardless of that, it currently is the rule, so you need to not do it.

My advice is a polite no thankyou or read your profile and not my type. I'm not needing to explain thank you. If they ask why block. You've been polite and he stepped over your request.

Sorry but totally disagree .

When one is actively looking to meet and play , it's pointless to carry on messaging when you're not in the slightest bit interested .

The adult thing to do would be to suck up the block and look elsewhere .

it is rude to block but there are many reasons why it's totally ok to do that.

i've blocked guys i enjoyed chatting to just coz i found them physically unattractive.

guys purposely do not send pics coz they know they are not attractive but think chatting to you will get you wet for them anyway, they deserve a block now i think about it that way.

We didn't used to block people we had politely turned down and wished Happy Fabbing, but we use the private note function and recently have had a few messages from guys we've previously turned down. Don't know if they don't remember contacting us or think if they leave it long enough we won't remember and might say yes but now I'm thinking it saves everyone time to just block after saying no thanks.

"I got a "not my type" then blocked.

I think it's the next politest thing to do after just a message. Blocking may seem like over kill but it stops either of you finding each on searches etc when one of you has already decided it's a no. And you do hear some stories of abuse being thrown by the turned down person.

I don't know if I annoy people by messaging them back saying I appreciate actually getting an answer and wishing them luck on here. But I do, unless they block me - the thing I find most annoying about being blocked is that (I obviously liked their pics) and I'll never get a chance to perv at any of their new ones

We're not keen on blocking, and it does jarr with me if someone blocks us. That just seems to close doors. We're never going to meet probably 99.99% of Fab, but logically if we block every single person we're never going to meet, then there will be no profiles left for us to perve at and nobody to Fab our pics. People who have blocked us, I can't respond to them in the forums as that's against forum rules, and that puts me off blocking as I feel the forums should be about freedom of expression. But ultimately, how embarrassing would it be if we met someone at a party, hit it off and wanted to play, and then discovered that they'd blocked us or we'd blocked them? No, we only block if someone has become a nuisance or if they send an offensive message. We would also block if we knew them or they lived very near.

I think blocking is a last resort. often if I say no thank you I get a polite message saying thank you for replying, so it would be a shame if I had blocked them as it's unnecessary and I would be offended if I was blocked that easily. However I also do agree that you should be able to block anyone if you want too. Personally I've blocked the odd guy that won't take no for a answer. I have also blocked some guys that I see in the updates/ status who rant excessively about no one meeting them, like how dare a woman turn them down on here/ sense of entitlement.

Everyone has their own code of conduct for blocking, do whatever works for you.

My trigger finger gets itchy depending on my mood. Sometimes it's someone I don't fancy. Sometimes its someone whose profile makes me queasy. Sometimes it's from a ridiculous message.

understand what youre saying here - and we have chatted to people that this has happened to - we laughed it off as people and profiles come across differently as when meeting face to face - same way as meeting someone at a club or party and when you go home, check out the profile you think id never have given them a second look -

That's happened to us. Their Fab profile had loads of action shots and barely any text, felt we were after different things so sent a Thanks but no thanks reply and blocked. Then we met at a club, didn't realise it was them until the next day and it was a totally different story. The profile really didn't present them well.

We confessed and explained why the profile had been a turn off, and we've met several times since. Based on this we have probably missed out on some gems but what we don't know doesn't hurt.

Do we feel that there are some profile holders who enjoying blocking as a sense of power? I suppose given the perceived disparity between the number of messages sent and recieved, means I'll probably be referring to single women and attractive couples.

I'd imagine that most others would consider a block more as a burnt bridge, particularly from those in the forums who may not 'be your type', but at some point could be a useful respondent to a request for help or advice..

This by no means justifies haranguing or abusing anyone who doesn't want to take things further, but most people aren't completely devoid of feeling, and the potential for offence to be taken as a result of a 'no thanks' or a block is very real..

I just block these days. I find that if you even remotely converse with guys on a 'no thanks' basis, they then pop up trying to make small talk at a later date, which is a waste of time for everyone. If I know I'll never meet the person on a sexual level, I just block. If they take it personal I won't lose sleep over it

My take would be that Fab probably isn't going to be much fun for you if your feelings are hurt or you are offended by someone who you have only ever had contact with online , possibly no contact with at all, blocking your access to their profile. There are plenty of people on here, focus on the ones who do want to interact.
