"So, it's come to that point in our house where we have decided to buy a new TV, bear in mind there's nothing wrong with the one we have, which was purchased back in 2001, it's a Panasonic 32" flatscreen CRT screen, now if you remember back then they were fecking huge, I've never really looked at tellys until last night, so we went in to our local currys, and was so blinded by the technology of these new things we just thought, feck it let's go, cannot be arsed with all this, specially when the sales assistant is blinding you with the spec of the thing. Ever been overwhelmed so much with information and thought sod this, can't be arsed? " Very much so! To be honest, some supermarkets have great deals on TV's there was a 50something inch Panasonic in Asda recently for about £400 so what it wasn't 4K with 18 hdmi inputs and internet connectivity.

"My tv is on it's last legs I'm slowly losing the picture. I'm putting off buying a new one as I haven't a clue what's a reasonable one to get and I know if I go into a store I'll be bombarded with specs by sales staff " Set your budget, check out sites that offer top 10 listings for budgets. Pick something you like and do your own research. Reviews on tech sites are usually pretty much on the mark. Their staff are full on tech weenies and know their shit.

"Great bargain at Tesco. Hisense 4K 42inch flat screen smart for £320. Ideal for a first or second tv, put one in our kitchen. " If I put a 42" in my kitchen I would have to take the fridge out

" Well that's the thing really,I haven't a clue how much a reasonable fairly decent tv would generally cost. I would need them to set it up for me as I'm terrible with thing's like that,so would need to buy from a shop I think. I'll do that thought thankyou after my summer hol's,fingers crossed it holds out til then

"Yes I find tech stuff REALLY boring. I need a new laptop - but it's all a bit overwhelming. Buying things online is the way forward. Have a look at what specifications you want / need. Then order it to avoid the sales assistants blurb " 110% this! Cant stand pressure selling from ill informed people who have targets to meet! Went in Currys once and they was like vultures on me. I left and bought online for the exact same price. As for laptops, just buy Apple its easy and straight forward. My last Macbook lasted me 9 years. Thats 7 more than my works laptop lasts on average.

I dont have anything that outputs 4k, so not much point yet, and all 4k have smart crap. Also equipment now has a very short use life. Things aren't built like they use to be

Then you go on about smart tvs.....then when I said don't complicate things you at to the frame about 4k tvs They are out there and I've seen them for under £300....but it's complicated as you said you can get bugger all in 4k at the moment. So let's keep this uncomplicated eh! That's what the poor bugger got in currys

"Yes. I want a tablet that I can use to surf the net and watch films on when I'm away working. I've been looking for weeks and am none the wiser about specs etc. " How much as you looking to spend? What format are the films in? (MP4, MKV, etc) Do you want just wifi on it or a SIM card?
