And by that I mean spending money on things to treat yourself rather than the basics we all have to spend on.

My birthday is coming up and we (me and my sibling) decided to set ourself a £200 budget for gifts for each other.

I personally find it extremely difficult to justify spending money on something that is considered a luxury rather than necessity but since I'm not techincally spending my money on my gift I can get something I really want.

So my question to you is, do you find it difficult to spend money yourself or feel guilty about it

i've never been much of a consumer so i don't really buy much ... i used to take things to bits and rebuild them when i was a kid .... i'm pretty good at it now so i tend to repair, upcycle and customise stuff just because it's a fun thing to do

Recycling is not something I'm really good at

For me spending money on holiday is much different than spending money on things like tech, because holidays have a lot more meaning in my opinion, they're not a luxury but a life experience.

Just do what I do and wear them only for posing, dining and sex. You've got lovely legs and we both know the shoes last longer if you don't walk in them.

travelling is worthy of spending money ... but it's not necessary to go over board financially .... before all this security crap it was possible to hitch hike onto the ferrys to ireland or france ... when you got to france the world was your lobster

I don't often spend money on myself, mainly because there's rarely anything I want - but when I do I don't feel guilty about it, unless doing so would mean someone else close to me going without, in which case more often than not I wouldn't treat myself.

I was originally going to answer no... But thinking about it, I tend to only spend money if its going to benefit others too. If something is purely for myself I spend very little. Not sure if that means I'm easily pleased or if its a subliminal reflection of my own self-worth, but having a 79c bar of chocolate from Aldi in the fridge that's just for me is my contentment

I find it strange, personally, how I find it hard to justify something I really like and then am quite happy going out and spending hundreds of pounds on booze.

Have no problem spending on myself at all...

Dont have an overdraft or credit card so its all paid for up front.

Pay for everything myself so guilt free.

Like quality over quantity.

It physically pains me to spend money om myself. Which is why I don't have wardrobes full of clothes, shoes or jewellery. I buy out of necessity, and even then I feel bad after because I could have bought something for one of my grandchildren they needed more than me.

When I hear of people paying hundreds of pounds for tattoos, or have rack upon rack of shoes, I struggle to comprehend why they do it.

After a rare night out I look at how much I have spent and automatically think of what I could have bought for a grandchild with the money.

Being a creature of habit, as soon as I like something, jumpers etc, I buy numerous at once so I never have to again. As long as my feet size doesn't change I'll never have to buy any more shoes ever!

can i suggest you have a look at a website called audiocheck dot net .... it's got all the audio test frequencies etc that you could possibly need for audio playback equipment ... might be handy for you

I work hard and treat myself, my children and my family often. It's how I am motivated to get up in the morning and work ungodly hours.

Felt quite guilty buying a new phone I didn't reaallly need. Returned it the same day and the relief was amazing. I think so long as you have a budget and stick to your own rules you won't feel guilty. Sort out debts first, save for an emergency fund, max out pension/ISAs then and only then spend on consumer goods (is my motto!)

I suppose I'm at that weird impasse in life where I have all I want and need. Unless I bust a kayak then I deffo need a new one, but that's a kinda necessity for me. A bloody expensive one at that.

I've never really been materialistic, like your man said earlier I like fixing things up. That said I've never had a flash car but my motorbikes have always been immaculate and eye turners.

As for the little things I don't need em or desire them, don't do designer clothes although I do have a really nice suit.

I suppose a guilty purchase for me would be a new power tool or something similar. It just makes being me easier at times. And even though the initial outlay could be expensive I wouldn't feel guilty as my kids and family would benefit in time.

That said I'm still thinking about how to attach a dildo to a multi speed sander lol.

I've just tested my hearing with a YouTube frequency test and my hearing age is over 24 but under 30.

I think good quality headphones would help to preserve the longevity of my hearing

i know it sounds counter-intuitive, but i always wear a pair of those squidgey in-ear ear defenders when i'm working with headphones in the studio .... mostly because i can't afford to lose any of my hearing range

That's a little scary... I like to exfoliate but a multi-speed sander is taking it too far.

Some would argue not so I've seen some photos on here that make me think ooh that's gotta smart.

But still, I think a decent pair of over ear headphones is less likely to damage my ears than some cheap on ear headphones with much worse sound quality.

When I was in my early 20s I spent £150 on a pair of headphones. I used them daily - I was allowed to wear them at my job for 40 hours a week and I wore them for several hours each evening too.

They last for 10 years. 10 years of 68 hour weeks wearing them, amazingly comfortable and pure bliss.

Never regretted it for a moment.

I bought another pair (but a slightly better model) at the end of last year.

I bought a pair of Sennheiser 363D 3 years ago, and I really can't complain about sound quality either using them pretty much all the time when I'm on my PC.

And the virtual surround can feel so weird at times

it's not noise cancelling it's stopping my ear drum from being damaged by the pressure of sound waves against it ... if you have a tasty pair of speakers check what happens when you turn them right up and cover the bass reflex port

I collect Charlie Bears. I buy whenever one (or more) take my eye. I see them as an investment for my daughters future.

Other than them I rarely spend money on myself, preferring to treat the Smallage. However, a couple of weeks ago we went away for the weekend and I spent £100 on me. Just me. Even my mum said it was nice for a change.

I used to have no problem spending on myself (when money wasn't an issue) now I'm single and running my own home etc I feel really guilty spending on myself even if I NEED it I still feel guilty and usually go without.

Just life I guess, x

If I don't have a full life, I'll only have a full fridge, and when I'm older, I'm not going to look back and say "Fuck me, that was a good ham and cheese butty I had that one time instead of soending time with my mates down the pub."

I've a teenager and spend a fortune on him. I work pretty much double the average working hours than most people i know so i don't feel guilty at all. I guess i do spend a fair bit on kink though, and not long spent £495 on a custom made chastity device.

No. I ofton go to the cinema or the casino 1ce a week just for fun. Sum times both

And no I never fill guilty.

Y wood you fill guilty for spending money on your self ?

I may be being pedantic, but I guess you could say you're treating yourself by spending money on Netflix

But I get your point, its the little things too, like seeing my nephes take his first steps and such

I also tend to have the odd day out as a treet to.

Go to a zoo or the steem trains or sumthing for a day.

yes i find it difficult to spend money, even i can afford it easily. just totally regret spending it, i live cheap. and hate spending, i try to get as cheap as possible.

I generally find it quite difficult to spend money on myself, and tend to stick to sales items. Irregular Choice shoes however is a guilty pleasure though I only tend to get two or three new pairs a year.

We tend to value experiences over material possessions anyway so there isn't really much that we want.

I've still got last year's birthday and Xmas money because there's nothing I wanted or needed at the time. I have a hard time spending money on myself, I very often pick something up and then talk myself out of it.

I've spent tons more money on my house than I have personal items. But I like perfume and toiletries and I just a few days ago I splashed out on God's. Never owned them before as o begrudge paying that much.

I buy second hand clothes very decent clothes on eBay and occasionally I buy new clothes. I think i have the right balance as never get into debt either
