Irritable Male Syndrome

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

Apparently the male testosterone cycle can lead to IMS.

Testosterone peaks in the morning, which is better for sex, and lowers in the evening, which is better for cuddles.

When men hit their 40s and 50s they might start to feel the lowering of their testosterone levels as loss of sex drive, develop depression, loss of sex drive, erectile dysfunction and other physical and emotional symptoms.

The NHS also lists these other symptoms common in men this age:

mood swings and irritability

loss of muscle mass and reduced ability to exercise

fat redistribution, such as developing a large belly or "man boobs" (gynaecomastia)

a general lack of enthusiasm or energy

difficulty sleeping (insomnia) or

increased tiredness

poor concentration and short-term memory.

These symptoms can interfere with everyday life and happiness... and may lead to irritable posts on the forum.

Men, are you suffering with IMS?

Women, have you experienced this with men in your lives?

Others, how does this play out for you?

"Only s in tonight?

"

I've defended my right to make a point all day. I don't want to attract any more attention -- but I similarly won't be silenced when I want to be heard.

I was reading about IMS last week but forgot to post about it... until now.

It's worth seeing a Doctor I get Testosterone on a prescription and it's changed my life I feel healthier hornier and have loads of energy.

I simply went to the Doc and asked for it as I wanted my levels to stay the same as a horny 19 year old

The timeframe is only indicative... it can affect men at all ages.

The advice is to get it checked as adjusting testosterone may help.

that has its own downsides too though..most men seem incapable of not behaving like teenagers a lot of the time, they dont need another excuse!

I'm pretty sure there's research out there showing men have a similar cycle to women with regards to hormone levels. Issue is, the effects are less obvious and as such often overlooked and dismissed.

Low testosterone and it's replacement is becoming huge business in the USA and has been for a few years.

It even has a name, the andropause... but it is disputed as a thing.
