"WHAT ???????????? TRUE ????????????? That's tragic. Predictable, perhaps, but she joins so many other Greats and Legends. Jamming with Marley, duo with Janis Joplin, Hendrix etc. I say NO ! NO! NO! " I don't think she's earned the right to be listed alongside Marley, Joplin or Hendrix. A talent unfulfilled is probably how history will remember her.

"Terrible shame but I have to say that I keep crying over the atrocity in Norway with all those innocent youngsters being murdered, that's a true tragedy. Z" Here here... About time priorities were put in order! 11 different posters on Oslo and already 30 different posters on here! "im not really bothered.. was her own fault." Might sound a bit harsh, but I have a similar sentiment!

"Hadn't realised that there was a hard and fast way in which priorites were meant to be listed - thought it was up to the individual ........" Sadly you are right of course. I say sadly, because it shows that people are more moved by celebrity than by a truly terrible tragedy to people who had not asked for or deserved death! Not saying Amy Winehouse deserved death, but she seemed to court it every day! Oh.. and I was just giving my opinion, as I have a right to do!

Yet on the same day elsewhere 85 young teenagers on the cusp of adulthood had their lives cruelly cut short in the most despicable of ways. I know with whom my symapthies lie, and it isn't anywhere near Camden." i get where your coming from honestly i do but in all cases its not those that have lost their lives but the ones they leave behind and in the case of Amy any the youngsters in oslo the families will be left with a lot of questions and anger. That is what saddens me knowing the way they will ALL be feeling right now

It must have been heartbreaking for Amy Winehouse's father to watch his daughter descend into hell and be powerless to prevent it. He tried so hard to turn her around - even at the cost of his own health, but she was on a one way journey to oblivion and he couldn't save her. As a father myself, I feel for her father, for sure.

The second album was not only over produced it was incorrectly titled. I believe it should have been called Back to Back Back to Back being the slang for a hit of Crack followed immediately by a shot of Heroin, or vice versa.

"In her corrupt world it was probably was called Back to Back initially. The record label would have had something to say about that though." I'm not sure about that theory - the lyrics make sense as being about depression - if you take black as a word for depression (as in 'Black Dog On My Shoulder') or as a word for mourning - as in Back in Black.....

It is widely credited that the album was almost entirely about her split with Blake Fielder-Civil, so yes, you're probably correct about Back to Black being about mourning that relationship in a state of depression.

I know Wishy, but it's how I feel and I'm not intimidated by anyone on here. Everyone is entitled to their opinion: that's mine! I have stood beside a grave that contained the remains of my child: so I empathise with her loved ones, as I would with anyone losing someone close. However, I can't join the boo hooing for someone who didn't "care" about themself when my senses are being bombarded with the sight of kids being mown down in their prime by another aggrieved nutter!

I know how you feel. I was reading the details out to Siren earlier today about how he called them to come closer and then opened up with a semi-auto. It felt like someone had hit me in the stomach with a sledgehammer just reading it out loud. They never stood a chance.

Those who are bleating on tonight about "poor" Amy Winehouse forget that she had a chance, in fact many chances to get her life back on track, but she blew it. My sorrow is for those in Norway, not a two bit singer who continually thrust two fingers up at everyone who tried to help her!

"I personally don't think it is a case of, those people in Oslo died a wors death than someone else. I just think it is sad that a young life has gone and there are two devastated parents and other family and friends grieving right now. Just like I think there are a hell of a lot more devastated parents/ family and friends grieving in Oslo. I don't think anyones grief will be any less no matter how their relatives die." "The big difference being that the parents in Oslo probably thought they would outlive their children by some years....whereas the parents of Amy Winehouse must have been very aware that this day was alomost inevitable the way she lived her life and abused her mind and body." No doubt they had those fears knowing her history, but I bet in the back of their minds they didn't think or at hoped that it would happen really. I just think it isn't a competition as to who should have the most sympathy. I feel sorry for all the parents.

I can empathize with her family, but I can't empathize with Amy Winehouse on any genuine level because we have almost nothing in common. And yes, she wrote a couple of decent songs which touch me, but compared to some of the jazz and soul greats she's foolishly listed alongside, her suffering is incomprehensible to me, and seems just a little overblown in a narcissistic way. She's no Rosetta Tharp or Billie Holliday, eating by the side of the road because black people weren't allowed in restaurants. She's just someone with an addiction and a taste for criminals and criminality, and that doesn't bring out my touchy feely side I'm afraid.

" Those who are bleating on tonight about "poor" Amy Winehouse forget that she had a chance, in fact many chances to get her life back on track, but she blew it. " Obviously you know the results of the post mortem which hasn't yet taken place. Given that you are privvy to this info, maybe you need to share it with us chapter and verse or shut your face in the absence of the facts .... you choose.

"No pitty from me she was in control of her own life as we all are, you cannot help those who do not want to be helped. been here before with someone who drank themself to death and it was not nice to see." Did Amy do that ?? Obviously you are another one who has the results of a PM which hasn't yet been conducted ...

"Amy went into rehab recently to try and clean up after a disaterous concert. That was surely her cry for help in a weakend mental state?. Addiction is a terrible thing that alters the state of the mind.. who is to say she was deeply troubled and battling depression..? I just think some of the comments on here are very cold. Where is the empathy for a fellow human being who probably tried very hard on a number of occassions to get better but was too imbalanced to maintain that path ? I for one cringe at some of the comments posted on here. It's so frustrating that we as a human race can be so cold towards one another. Extremely well said! I am not pointing fingers, but it has become quite clear to me that some are quick to jump down the throat of the poor girl lying dead on a cold slab tonight. I seriously do not think for one minute that she and other addicts actually wanted to feel that desperate for their next buzz. It is well known that her ex-hubby led her down the path of hardcore substances.... I refuse to blame him though as he was and addict himself. I've seen it first hand, someone battling a frightening addiction, it's horrendous. It's a battle that they sadly lost aged only a year older than poor Amy. RIP to My Big Bro & Amy xxxxx" As metaphors go, the idea that anyone is jumping down the throat of a poor dead girl is pretty atrocious. Do you think it's callous of me to refuse to mourn Amy Winehouse? It doesn't mean I might not mourn your brother, and it certainly doesn't mean I don't empathize with you in your grief. I'm just sick to my guts of this constant outpouring of synthetic grief over this celebrity or that one. I don't like living in Princess Diana's Britain, where people leave tacky poundshop trinkets by the side of the road to mark the spot where someone they never knew got stabbed by someone else in a row over drugs. It's the worst kind of emotional exhibitionism, and when it's allied to the kind of uncritical revisionism that makes a legend out of a pretty ordinary talent like Amy WInehouse I speak my mind. But that doesn't mean I don't wish you didn't have to go through the loss of your brother...

"Addiction is a powerful thing .... there is nothing more to say than that. People who are making fun of her and saying she deserved it are sick." Not doubting its not a powerful thing, but she started it knowing that she could become addicted

Anyone like the Rolling stones for example? Cause guess what.

A little dignity isn't much to ask for, if you can't do that then things are maybe best left unsaid?

"So far as I'm concerned, she ranked amongst the greats, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holliday, Bessie Smith, Louis Armstrong .... the list goes on I think not, they were far superior to this waste of valuable air, please get your facts right before making such a comment!!! Two albums does not make her a great artist or a legend, and her last album was over engineered to cover her deteriorating lifestyle Facts ? Facts ? That is my opinion to which I think I am entitled ...." Nearly everything in this thread is opinion, and everyone is entitled to their own opinion. However, the one fact is she is now dead. Game Over. An that's all folks.

"She still has a family. And friends. And people who love her. Compassion... look it up. " And again... also respect... a little respect for those who were fans. If you have nothing nice to say then the best bet is to say nothing at all. Whilst we're all entitled to opinion, having a heart and a little respect for fellow human beings doesn't go amiss every now and again. The woman is dead, let those who wish to grieve do so in peace and be grateful you've not just lost a friend or a loved one.

"I am just off to bake a very large humble pie! Not for me you understand, but for those who believe that Amy Winehouse's post mortem will say that she died "clean"! As I said in an earlier post, it is so sad when celebrity is mourned more than 85 innocent kids on holiday and mown down! I also notice that most of the people getting heated or "protecting" Winehouse haven't posted their sympathies on the Oslo thread! The tabloids have much to answer for! " I don't think anyone is saying she should be mourned more than the victims in Oslo but she was still a human being and deserves a bit of respect, whether you liked the way she lived or not!

I don't feel the need to judge other people for their choices in life whether it be for artists they were fans of or tragedies that happen in the world we live in. I feel the need for personal choice and privacy and not to be judged by people who make sweeping generalisations and judgemental remarks without facts.

" I can only speak for myself. I wrote on this thread because I can offer thoughts on this. I am deeply shocked about the Oslo situation, im reading news stories on it and its so horrific its incomprehensible. However I will not be judged on which thread I chose to post on first. I have a choice when I read the forums and I do what I want to do. I personally dont give a shit as to your interpretation of the timings of my posts. Dont make assumptions about me, or that I am only interested in celebrity and tabloids and am not capable of offering discussion on other topics on this forum!

I don't point any fingers... you made the assumption you were one of them Trouble is Awayman... If I started excluding people that made assumptions I was getting annoyed with then it'll narrow it down too much and I'll probably get accused of 'bullying' which isn't the case. I'm strong enough to stand without wallowing in self pity about my brother... It was a long time ago... I just think tw***y comments like "she brought on herself" and "she knew what she was doing" show an awful lot of ignorance when it comes to showing what some folk know about addictions

I haven't done so for I'm guessing 7-8 years. You don't read other posts I and others chose to write on other sites (social networking) so you can't really judge us as you can't see everything! Not everyone chooses to write everything they think or of feel on here.

"I didn't know she had punched a female fan at one of her gigs. It was shown on one of the news channels just now, and it wasn't a single blow either, she repeatedly punched this fan several times with a look of pure hatred on her face. I remember when Cantona launched into a fan and he was rightly condemned for it (and banned from football for 8 months). What she did to a paying member of the audience was outragious and I don't think her 'troubled' mind can be used as a defence. My already low estimation of her has just dropped to a rating of 'really dont give a shit'. " The same could be said about your opinion.
