I saw it on the B.B.C.

Was he a reliable witness ? That man who had come from a pub ?

When exactly did he see or hear them ? I found that bit difficult to comprehend.

So can we just leave it as 'some bloke said they were shouting Allah' ......

In your bed

Irony is that if Allah is real they have committed the biggest insult by assuming to speak for God whom I'm sure is big enough to speak for its self .

Its the height of arrogance to assume you know the mind of someone else.

So claiming to know the mind and wisdom of a supreme being is basically a huge error. If God wants people dead he/she they can do it for themselves.

BOOM.. I don't do I. That's what he said tho.

So let me correct myself.

A man who SAID he had just come from a pub CLAIMED to have seen the attackers and SAID ( though it's not substantiated ) that 'they' were shouting , 'This is for Allah.' ....

there is a video interview of an eyewitness, one of many, stating they stabbed a girl over 10 times in front of others in the pub , shouting 'this is for allah'..no idea why you think someone would make that up when it could be easily contradicted by other witnesses..there will be hundreds of witness statements coming out as well as footage..

I think that's a bit naive, and insulting to a guy who ran after the 3 losers trying to warn people. This after witnessing them stabbing a young woman 10-15 times in front of him.

Let's draw a line here. The terrorists were quoted as saying what the said. They acted in their own way, spoke in their own way and mentioned the word Allah and why.

Let us not forget the victims, those who were killed, wounded and traumatised; not quibbling over a language and its use.

These people were mad-men, and they weren't speaking for Muslims. It's Ramadan; Muslims are in mosques, praying. They were with their families, eating and praying after a long day of fasting. We should remember that these people do not represent Muslims any more than the KKK represents all Christians.

There will probably be more 'eyewitnesses' then there were people who were actually there. Some like to big up their involvement in something, they were half a mile away but they saw and heard it all.

Personally, I think Granny Crumpet is challenging people to be moderated in their flinging around of info and remind people that not escalating information is important (if not as thrilling for those wanting to voice their outrage, and I am as outraged by the attack) -- there is nothing she has posted that has not demonstrated having her eyes open, she also has her brain switched on and is thinking before speaking.

Iceland, but Aldi is closer..

So in the cold light of day, we know the three Muslim men drove a van at speed into innocent people walking across London bridge, they then went on to stab a number of people who were out enjoying the nice evening..

It is likely the men came from East London when they headed into London and witnesses have stated they shouted "this is for Allah" or similar..

No one has said they had an accent, so I assume they are local to London...

So what next?

Do we end up with vigilante gangs roaming the streets of of our cities?

Will the latest incarnation of the black shirts be walking to parliament with banners "we told you so"?

Will Enoch Powell's speech, "rivers of blood " be broadcast as a call to battle?

I fear for the fallout of this latest event... The insidious rise of radicalisation of the youth, not just those of the Muslim faith, but non-Muslim, those that have never had an interest in any faith in their past, goes to show the level of mentality of these sick individuals..

Perhaps they do suffer with a psychological problem that predisposes them to be an easy target for radicalisation..

So how do we stop radicalisation in the first place?

There in lies the million dollar question, but one starting point is social media.. the suppliers, google, WhatsApp,etc. have a moral responsibility to assist the security services..

WhatsApp has a level of inscription that makes it almost impossible to penetrate... Why????

I have no problem with the security services listening or reading what I put online, but then I am not planning on doing anything illegal..

The truth is we shouldn't be afraid of being watched by "big brother"

"what about my civil liberties! " I hear you cry....Well, what about the civil liberties of those that dies last night, surely they outweigh the liberty to a private conversation about your hemerroids or what you are having for dinner...

I'm now going to step off my soap box.. I thank you for listening..

"WhatsApp has a level of encryption that makes it almost impossible to penetrate... Why???"

Because encryption that can be penetrated isn't encryption.

In general I've agreed with your posts before. This though, this is short-sighted at best.

Are you really calling for government backdoors into encryption technologies?

You can't think of a single scenario wherein you would like to keep your private information private?

Or a single case of someone in power abusing their power?

What happened in London is terrible but undermining all our security technologies is far, far worse.

I agree. The fact that some people take it to give them license to spout ignorant, hate-fuelled, reprehensible bullshit and actually get their kicks in doing so. Shame on them. Shame on the posters on this thread showing their small mindedness.

"How do you know they shouted that ?

It was being said, according to witnesses at the time

I saw it on the B.B.C.

Was he a reliable witness ? That man who had come from a pub ?

When exactly did he see or hear them ? I found that bit difficult to comprehend.

So can we just leave it as 'some bloke said they were shouting Allah' ......

How do you know categorically the man had just cone from a pub?

The area was very busy, both on the bridge and in Borough Market with plenty of people out and about.

BOOM.. I don't do I. That's what he said tho.

So let me correct myself.

A man who SAID he had just come from a pub CLAIMED to have seen the attackers and SAID ( though it's not substantiated ) that 'they' were shouting , 'This is for Allah.' .... "

"Irony is that if Allah is real they have committed the biggest insult by assuming to speak for God whom I'm sure is big enough to speak for its self .

Its the height of arrogance to assume you know the mind of someone else.

Well said

So claiming to know the mind and wisdom of a supreme being is basically a huge error. If God wants people dead he/she they can do it for themselves. "

I think the British population is fucked in the head anyway. People seem more concerned with virtue signalling than expressing any genuine concern for the situation we no find ourselves in. Its a form of narcissism where people are so gakked up on the steady diet of indoctrination that they cant even see straight. Terrorism? Nah let me remind people of how much of a "good" white person I am by telling people how terrible it is to have any kind of genuine concern about radical elements of a religion which refuses to integrate with western society.

And thats where the fallout of this stuff really happens. Its not in the grand plots like this but in everyday life. Increasingly segregated communities and the lack of cohesion.

At this point things deserve to get ugly.

No, I believe that certain humans are evil and I have bore witness to that when I served in the forces.

I also believe that the Muslim community does very little to prevent the radicalisation, they are ashamed of it and hide it, very similar to the way the Catholic Church hid the sick acts of some priests...

I am also disappointed that in the streets of Bow and mile end, posters are pasted to windows of empty shops with the slogan "Britain needs Shariah law" and "let's make Britain Muslim"...

Really... is this acceptable? I don't see any people defacing these posters, I don't see any signs in the food shops around the east London Mosque, serving the faithful as they leave prayer stating anything close to "not in the name of my god" or "radicalisation is wrong.. Report it"...

Perhaps it's too late to be ashamed about the radical clerics that are freely allowed to preach hatred.. Those that post sickening videos of innocent people having their throats cut..

It's a problem that can only be resolved from within the Muslim community and I'm sorry, but I just do mot see enough action from that community denouncing these acts of terror against innocent people..

It's time for the leaders of the Muslim religion across the world, to stand united and say enough is enough.. Not in the name of my god....

But they won't..

They can't even decide between themselves which version of the religioun is correct and so resort to violence to resolve that argument..

I'm sorry if I sound jaded, but religion is rubbish, there is no supreme being.. it's just a belief that you should use as an example of how to lead a peaceful life...

It's not worth dieing for and it definitely doesn't require acts of murder..

We all know the crusades were wrong but that was almost a thousand years ago that started.. Let's not end up back there because I would never take up arms in the name of religion, and nor should anyone else..

The sad fact is that you give a man a reason to fight and he will...

So much horrible behaviour following an heinous incident.

Then there's the profiteering by the likes of Uber, hiking their fares as Black Cabs were giving those affected a free journey to get them to safety and home.

I despair that it is the disunity, shown here and elsewhere, that is the success if terrorists and terrorism.

Again, you're perhaps assuming and thus putting emotion and intent into my post rather than asking me. I'm not feeling aggressive, or looking for a fight. I'm vehemently stating my opinion. I am not looking for admonishment in your post, I'm alerting you to the fact that it came across as condescending and I acknowledged that may not have been your intent, and you clarified now it was not -- thank you. It felt like it regardless, on the receiving end in the same way my post felt aggressive to you -- and I apologise if that was how you received it despite it not being my intent. And yes, my comment was not to those outraged at the attack and questioning how we solve the times we find ourselves in -- it's to those making the sweeping, inaccurate generalisations about an entire people -- the posts have been deleted, you may not be aware of that. I chose to make a statement of my view. They did too. You have made yours. But I refute the implication that I'm not aware of debate and how to, the statements posted and now deleted were not ones I wanted to debate -- I wanted to simply, and strongly, oppose them.

Actually it does. I would NEVER take the opinion of someone seriously if they go out of their way to ensure they're never around the minority groups or religions they love to claim they're "protecting".

What blows my mind is the sheer audacity and arrogance of those who like to preach their lefty mantra of nonsense. All while knowing they ensure they're as far away from the problem as they possibly can be.

"

Feeling concern for both those affected by the incident and for those affected from the increased Islamophobia that can arise from such incidents, is not mutually exclusive. "

Unfortunately this is far too complicated for some people to understand, apparently.

Someone says 'let's not turn on innocent Muslims' and they hear 'I love ISIS', or something.

"So many opinions, so little thought.

Sometimes the reactions to such atrocities sickens me as much as the people that carry out the attacks

I agree. The fact that some people take it to give them license to spout ignorant, hate-fuelled, reprehensible bullshit and actually get their kicks in doing so. Shame on them. Shame on the posters on this thread showing their small mindedness.

Whilst I agree with the sentiment of your post... surely everyone has an opinion and they should be allowed to voice and debate it.

Some opinions are base and insulting but you lower yourself insulting their opinion.

Better to make salient points that undermine their arguement and move on.

Well, I think you've kind of undermined your own point. I've not said they can't post, have I? I've simply stated, clearly, my opinion. Or are you suggesting that I'm not allowed to? And I'm entitled to decide if I'd like to express that in terms of a discussion or a statement. Today I chose a statement. Thank you for expressing your opinion. Excuse me if I choose to ignore the perhaps unintended condescension of it.

Slow your roll... am simply saying you views are as small minded to them as theirs are to you. Am just saying you undermine your position when you insult people that degenerates the debate... it's not personal.

But you seem really aggressive in your approach and your looking for fight. Ive not said you cant post... actually the opposite. But your looking admonishment (in my post) that isn't there.

I know hun. But i still believe you were being agressive and now condescending. But you know what it's ok your just passionate.

What is there to refute about the debate? You vehemently and strongly opposed someone, thats totally fine and laudable. However the insults are incendiary - but you know that.

Essentially, insults degenerate the debate.

Surely you agree?

"

Feeling concern for both those affected by the incident and for those affected from the increased Islamophobia that can arise from such incidents, is not mutually exclusive.

Unfortunately this is far too complicated for some people to understand, apparently.

Someone says 'let's not turn on innocent Muslims' and they hear 'I love ISIS', or something. "

I often think it's actually, sadly, someone wanting to just troll and cause upset at people by making sweeping statements or assumptions of others rather than even believing their own points, not always I'll warrant, but sometimes it's the "thrill" of having a to-fro with someone. But yes, the inability of some to not clarify if they don't understand someone's point, or the arrogance in assuming they do understand it, and jump to unintended conclusions is staggering too.

Enough is enough

We know it's Islamic extreamists - our gloriously shit prime minister came out and said it.

Now I have Muslim friends from school and traveling and I know its not the majority of the Muslim faith

However the police and security services have to do more, but they need both money and people support, but also support from the community. They need to have the right to kill without having Ipc investigating

These 3 bastards I hope have died in the most painful way!!!!

I have a lot of left wing friends who have hardly said anything

But why should we not say fuck the terrorists, fuck their shit warped ideologies.

Rip for those that died, and I hope those innocents in hospital recover

Let's face it they don't exactly recruit the brightest and the best.

They attract those with criminal records who have never made it big in the drugs trade.

People with mental illnesses and those with predispositions to sadistic or pedophilic tendencies. Ie those wanting child brides. Etc.

Muslim extremism is the last bastion for the hopeless and useless. Its not like they even need to study their religion.

Dealt drugs, fucked up yours and others lives. Go kill and shout Allah and get on the express train to God.

No need to repent and make amends for your previous errors.

Very simple and appealing message to those with little hope or little left to achieve in Life.

I'm uncomfortable with the potential for an extrapolation of this post reading (and I'm certainly not saying it was your intent) that anyone with a mental health difficulty is one of the hopeless or useless, or that someone with a criminal conviction cannot turn their life around etc, so just gently countering anyone that might.

The questions which remain left unanswered is why? what makes these people behave in this manner?, surly these folk don't just wake up one morning with the notion that they're going to be a suicide terrorist and kill innocents along the way! I think what Teresa May said about terrorism breeding terrorism is exactly right, maybe we need to ask ourselves what is it we have done to others to bring this back on to our own doorstep.

The approach we have adopted in dealing with this is clearly not working instead of deterring these terrorists its bringing more out of the wood work.

Many of these terrorists have been reported to be educated individuals with everything to live for so what then makes them choose such barbarity over peaceful protest?

Preach.

Also a lot of people don't know. That even in their Islamic legislation, any sort of warfare is considered prohibited. So these assholes don't even know their own religion.

The other 50 people died in Iraq in suicide bomb attack. Dame in Kabul. All by these dumb asses who are killing innocent in the month which is most sacred to their religion.

I didn't agree or disagree with it because it wasn't the discussion I was responding to, and not the intent of my original post. Not responding to a question is not providing an answer but you putting an answer in my mouth again by assumption is done as it suits your narrative and your inability perhaps of recognising my point. I can own my intent, my point and even where you misinterpret it if it has upset you. You cite a failure in debate, and again miss the point that my original post was not to debate, even when I clearly explained that to you. You're very confused. *shrugs*

Yes. But my point is (as I had said earlier) my post was in response to those posts -- the ones you've now clarified you've not seen -- you joined as they were being removed, I assumed (my mistake) you'd read them because you didn't clarify otherwise when I explained my post was distinctly in response to them. Not to debate, to make a statement in direct opposition to the posts made. The posts were reprehensible, which is why they've been removed.

If I choose to debate I would do so. I do often here. You're attacking my choice to make a statement opposing a statement that was not in debate. And attacking me without the full picture, for the sake of a point you want to make that I don't disagree with, wasn't making (as explained to you) and didn't have to respond to. I'm really sorry you've felt the need to ramble on in such a misinformed way. The fact you feel the need to post an epic for each response suggests you know this.

I apologise for emasculating anyone by having an opinion.

Lol, don't apologise for that!

Try apologising for the insults you threw at people with opposing views. Or maybe for avoiding reasonable questions such as...

Do you agree insults cause debates to degenerate?

Alternatively, just keep posting until there are no dissenting (or otherwise) voices.

You go gurl

Oh Chris! Did you read the posts on the thread that were removed by the moderator?

No hun they were removed. That means you can't read them as they're removed x

I'm also sorry you are t able to respect my preference for not being called hun, as mentioned earlier but then I suspect that's why you chose to use it.

Nooooo ones attacking you hun. Your cage got rattled, you decided to use abusive terms to people. I simply suggested that won't help a debate.

The fact you feel the need to post an epic for each response suggests you know this.

And yet you choose to ignore it. But rather spectacularly - instead you place yourself as the victim in the scene, it is frankly -

absurd.

Now, as a means to an end. And in the spirit of your initial - agree to disagree post (which you appear to of neglected)...

The amusing point being you agreed with my sentiment (as per your first post) just keen to start an argument on the misinterpretation you've ascribed to my post. Nah, that's not what's just dawned on me -- I'm wondering if my failure to reply to you was an issue...I was interested in the Dutch study, just forgot to reply.

They saw much but that wouldn't be what I wanted to ask about. If you didn't see it I don't want to put words in your mouth.

I'll wait and see if anyone did.

What about them, other than the final comment about being told to leave the flat..

In hindsight, that was a good call on the part of the met as there could have been a bomb.

Other than that, a normal couple trying to comprehend the madness of last nights events.

But Chris I don't see prejudice, I was just clarifying what felt like a prejudging and a dismissal of my right to post. If that wasn't your intent, that's absolutely fine. If it was, that's fine too. I'm allowed to reply as much as I'm allowed to post a statement and not have to debate. You made your point in a way that disallows my point, or felt as if that was your intent, I don't disagree with you but agreeing with you doesn't negate my point either.

And again, I asked if it was the issue, I didn't assume -- you've clarified it was unrelated, I accept that!

"Granny crumpet... open ur fucking eyes and stop trying to be a crusader

Oh, the irony! If Granny was trying to be a crusader, historically she'd be trying to wipe out Islam. You might want to think before you choose your insults; we're SJW Libtard Islam apologists."

.

Your actually misinformed, the crusades were multi faceted but never about wiping out islam!.

A great deal of the fighting took place in Europe in places like Greece, Italy, Sicily, Spain.

What started out as a rescue of Byzantine empire ended up as a re take of the holy land of the Levant!.. You'll notice that was a recapture of the holy land not a take from Muslim hands!.

All this is irrelevant to almost everybody these days unless your a fucking whack job believer of course!.

The two main religions of the world are the main ones because they inspire theyre followers into jihad and holy war, its not a coincidence that these two have billions of followers?.

"We" in the West have managed to get past it, sadly the middle East, Africa and Asia hasn't for obvious reasons

"It is Muslim for, ' the one and only God'

Muslim isn't a language.

Ok, splitting hairs aside, it is in the Muslim faith, so their language follows suit.

Arabic-speakers of several faiths, including CHRISTIANS and JEWS, use the word "Allah"

It means God.

So why ask what it means then? The guy saying he heard them say it sounds credible, he threw bottles and chairs at the attackers as they repeatedly stabbed a young girl and then followed them and guided police to their location, sounds like he was in a good position to hear what they were saying to me. Why try and defend the indefensible. "
