So after avoiding any real hardcore fitness for bloody months I've had to succumb to going back as I'm not really enjoying the muffin top or extra clothes size I've gone up. Tonight I did the legs, bums and tums class. My problem is I'm now in agony two hours later which is making me dread the next 48 hours. Truth be told I think this is the pain I've been putting off forever. I know I've got to do a fair few repeat pains before it starts to ease off and feel natural again. I think I may try and cheat my way out with shed loads of pain killers. Sadly I think even then that won't help that burning pain when walking and taking the dreaded stairs.

Tea and sympathy kindly accepted. Sadly as much as it will kill me I'll have to decline my most favourite vices in the world chocolate and jammy dodgers

Did the hot shower in a stupid attempt to ease my burning muscles, certainly not brace or hardcore enough to do the cold one. Brrrrrrrr

It's the cold that's the winner contracts the muscles , reduces aches and tenderness

Good portion of protein within half hour of exercising will do the job to rebuild lost muscle mass causing the aching

BCAA's are good for reducing muscle pain from training hard.

Are they? I've not seen them. However if they were in my jammy dodger days ( errrr this afternoon while having skinny thoughts!) which are now over( sobs) I would alway go for original. And them have a giant chocolate bar on top.

Edinburgh

I started going to the gym regularly last week.

I went in the deep end and have been going first thing in the morning.

It's like a crazy person has taken over my body and I'm just along for the ride.

I need the crazy person in me to take over. All I have is a mirror and the little pickers wear bigger knickers quote in my head. However it's those things that have forced me back

Protein and BCAA, but ultimately you'll probably just need to befriend a tub of Ibuprofen.

After years of neglect, I finally kicked myself up the ass about it (and was getting fed up with the reflection in the mirror)

It's hard at first, but I actually feel more energised for it.

There has been some time I wonder why I'm doing this, but I have been pushing through it.

It'll come. You can do it.

"Good portion of protein within half hour of exercising will do the job to rebuild lost muscle mass causing the aching "

Hot bath relaxes the muscles allowing the lactic acid to disperse slightly quicker

You don't need to train hard at all. Just don't eat junk food, have a little fruit and veg now and again and keep active. Punishing yourself at the gym will make you irritable and wear your joints out. Easy does it.

Central

Sounds bad but delayed onset muscle soreness should probably be worse but less likely to kick in until later.

Have you foam rolled? Maybe a good soak would be good
