I only make my half face pic our avatar when I want less messages in our inbox because I'm too lazy to answer them. (This is 100% true )

Before i had taken and uploaded pics, I received so many messages from guys. So many do not care what you look like. You only need to be breathing and willing.

Some people wouldn't want their face for all to see. Imagine logging in and seeing your kid's teacher on here... then keeping a straight face at the next parents' evening

I don't think having a face pic as an avatar would get me any more attention since I have a pretty average type of face and message filters. On the very rare occasions I have put a bit of my face up as an avatar it just feels too exposed so it quickly gets changed back again. I've met people without any public pics or even an avatar pic so although a face is nice to see it's not the be all and end all of an initial profile perusal and I understand why people wouldn't want one on their public profile for the same reasons I don't have one.

I think it works differently for men compared to women. I can only imagine it's because it enables women to skip a stage. Maybe not though.
