Coal Tar Soap

Jesus H Corbett. It's stinking out the whole of my bathroom.

I was out, doing my weekly big shop and thought "I'm a bell-end who buys because of packaging. I'll give that a whirl."

It smells of death. Actual death. And something rather sinister.

I haven't tried the soap but if it's anything like the shampoo (that I used to use for psoriasis a few years ago) I love the smell!

What you need is a roll of Izal medicated toilet paper to balance out the aroma..... oh and some mothballs

I suffer from psoriasis and was first given coal tar cream and soap to apply to ma skin. It did diddly squat and soon got binned along with the soap

I remember coal tar soap when I was younger but my grandparents always had a bar of carbolic soap on the sink. My gran had the softest skin ever. Can't buy it now x

That takes me back!! My Mum used to buy it for me to take whenever I went on cub camp as a kid as she could tell if I'd washed by whether any of the lettering had dissolved away!!

It's a very strong smell, I prefer Pears soap which is a similar idea but much gentler.

i like wright coal tar soap, it has no actual coal tar in it though. think it got classed as a carcinogen so they had to not use it any more.

Correct, they have replaced the coal tar with tea tree oil as coal tar is banned in Europe.

It's a medicated type smell, not unpleasant per se but definitely pungent and cloying after a while.

What was that shampoo that came in the green bottles, it had a similar type of smell, initially quite pleasant and clean but ultimately cloying and pungent?

Vosene or something?.. ugh.
