So ive always tried to take news headlines and articles in the paper with a pinch of salt.. and while i may read things and thing 'how awful' i dont ponder on it.

Last night my 7yr old was beaten up and had her scooter pinched.

Perhaps i live in a bubble but didnt think she would ever have to experience that.

Nothing prepares you for that instant devistation feeling. Children can be so cruel. Luckily though her friends ran to get me and saw who it was.. im so mad angry and upset..

I wanna be at home with her as shes not feeling too bright but stuck in work trying to figure out how to protect her from further incidents... if i can

What you do is go round and see the parents and have a quiet word, tell them if it continues you will have to take it out on them.

Oh that's awful I hope she's ok and gets better soon. I disagree about "sorting it out yourself". That will just get you in trouble and she doesn't need to see her mum fighting. If needs be talk to the police.

I've found that most of the horrible kids are brought up that way, so start at the source and sort it that way. Anyone goes near my kid it's all over.

Anything bad like that happening to your own children will be gut wrenching, but WTF? Who beats up a 7 year old!?

I'm dreading my 6 year old daughter starting senior school, specially after seeing videos posted on Facebook of lads beating girls up

Things like make me angry, I have a little girl myself and if anything like that ever happened to her I reckon I'd go on a rampage and string up the fucker who did it. I hope she's ok bless her

This is the best advice. More violence perpetuates the cycle. It's sickening that it has happened and it shouldn't have in the first place. But any advocating a 'might is right' solution must see that it won't make it better. It only serves to make them go after even weaker folk that can't defend themselves again. Sorry if that sounds hippyish, but it's what I believe.

The best protection you can give her right now is making her feel safe and loved and trying to let her know it was a freak incident perpetrated by people that haven't had enough love and guidance in their lives.

What you need is a friend and a best friend.

A friend will be there in your hour of need.

A best friend, will help you bury a body.

Hope you are all ok. The psychological scars will take longer to heal than the physical ones.

Get friend s round and talk about it, especially for your daughter.

Its deffo worth reporting it, I would struggle personally with the non violent approach, but as life has taught me, sometimes that just creates more issues for you and your family. Only you will know what risk these other kids and their families may pose, as hard as it can be sometimes its better to put it down to experience an know that your child will learn from it, and move on. Thats obviously the toughest thing to do, we all know the protection we feel for our kids, the main thing you want for them is to feel safe and secure, and unfortunately the world we live in is full of little bastard kids who have no respect or morals taught to them!

I'm so sorry this happened. I know how gut wrenching this is. My son was mugged at knifepoint last year. You go through so many emotions, anger, sadness, a distinct desire to pay the little shits a visit and show them what fear feels like.

You have to put your trust in the police. They may never find out who it was, but if you do know, seriously.... inform the police. I found then quite helpful, no they never got them in my case, but it reassured my son that the police were there to help and that as long as he had done nothing wrong he had nothing to be scared of them for.

Personally I sat waiting at the same spot where they mugged him at school kicking out time for 3 days. I was sat on a grassy hill, music blasting in my ears just waiting and raging. I have no clue what I would have done if I did spot them, but it's probably a damn good job I didn't... so I really don't suggest you do it!

Ps, her friends are awesome for coming to get you, and by going to her aid asap you showed her she can rely on you. Most kids know it, but it's always nice when it gets proved to them xxxxx

It's horrible when somone hurts your child. I remember when mine were in primary school and there was a boy in my youngest child class who clearly had huge problems.

After my daughter come out of school in tears for the umpteen time and already previously rang the headteacher on another occasion,for her to tell me well Mrs ..... it could be 5 children doing this to her not just one to which I was bloody furious.

Anyway I was about to frogmarch my girl's back into school after being told yet again he'd punched one of them in the stomach and told her I'm going to burn your mum I decided not to go into the school because they were doing bugger all and knocked on his door instead.

I told him if he ever touches either of my girl's again I'm going to ring the police. His mum was just stood there meek and mild and asked him if he was listening. Discipline starts at home,but it appears at time's some kid's are just left to do what they want

felt sick and dizzy..

she threw up this morning and just been really sleepy.

Whilst i was at work my grandmother phoned up the GP.. they just said to monitor her, make sure she drinks and to take paracetamol (calpol)

hope it works out for you.my kid Is seven too so yea hope you find a way to sort it but police will do nothing these days with them being so young.best non violent solution I can think off is making sure police atleast go to the kids house and give him a good scare of prison etc.

Genuinely it sounds like a police matter , this genuinely is theft and assault, just because she is a child does not mean the police should not be involved if her stuff is taken .

Hope she is recovering but I want to hear later the police are involved and the bike has been returned

The scooter that was taken was found dumped in a bush..

i have exchanged words with the lads mother (her younger daughter is in my childs class at school). His mother appeared genuinely horrified when i explained. I have faith she will deal with it how she feels is appropriate.

Little feckers. Kids can be orrible. I remember being walked up to by a guy while I was heading home from school, with two friends, and he just pummelled me to the ground. My two friends walked off! It toughened me up. Maybe it will inspire her to take up karate or some kind of martial art x Hope she's OK xx

Dont go to the parents yourself whilst you are angry as this wont help. Give her a big hug and perhaps take photos of bruises and report to police.

I am her guardian.. she is a very sensible 7 year old and plays within close proximity to my home. There are always around 8 other children out too and as parents we can always see them..

Think i used to play out in fields alone aged 6

So, find a self-defence class near you and take her along.

Skip the usual crap, your judo or karate, and go hardcore, like kick-boxing, ju jitsu or krav maga.

She doesn't need to get good, but it develops self-confidence, and once she learns to stand her ground, and maybe kick an ass or two, they'll leave her alone.

She is a confident girl and not afraid to join in with the rough and tumble of playground antics... she's been playing football for 2 years now and certainly gets stuck in.

Sadly the area i live in has very little in the way of martial arts activities..

She is my lil warrior anyways

That's terrible, oh my god I'd be straight round the kids houses. Hope your little one is ok.

That's why my daughter has been doing Krav Maga since she was 5 and kickboxing for the last year.

Get her in a class, even if you don't want her to compete it will build her confidence back up.

Ohh yes I know you are her ultimate guardian I was thinking she was in the care of someone else at the time.

We were so fortunate to have a big garden our kids never played out on the front street unless we were out gardening. We ended up with them all at our house.
