Men and washing!

Jump to newest

I've just picked up my beautiful new white underwear and to my horror, they are now grey!

Not just a light grey, that could be forgiven. No, a murky dirty mud grey.

Why oh why do men think washing black and whites together is a good idea!

Any ideas on getting them back to white or have i lost them forever?

Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum

I don't separate colours and whites, mainly because I don't have anything that's all white.

Use those Colour Catcher thingies, although bear in mind they sometimes clog washing machines.

Try a colour run product and then maybe try one of the Glo-white products ?

Good luck

Can't you bleach them back to white? Or are they too delicate

Yeah they're probably not going to be whiter than white again.

Some of us did take washing 101 though

Yes a pack of glo-white will help. Not sure they'll go as white as they were x

they'll only try that one once if you calmly give them the receipts, say its no problem at all, could happen to anyone but could they just pick up the replacements in the next few days..

Not all men are useless at washing, I've never had colours ruin other clothes.

I use oxy and bicarbonate of soda to make clothes white again

You only have yourself to blame, washing isn't mans work.

I think you need to get new lingerie to make up for these oddball ideas

I'm a domestic god, so always wash clothing in colour groups..... only time I wash white knickers in a dark wash is when the wife doesn't take the knicks out of her black tights, so it's tough tittys

I've tried various methods of getting once-were-whites back to white again, and its so difficult. Bleaching probably isn't the best on delegates, and probably won't make it white, but more an off white.

As far as washing whites and delicates, rather than have them get mixed in a regular wash, perhaps have a separate basket for your special items, and wash them separately yourself, on lighter load/shorter cycles, and don't forget the wash bags so they don't tangle x

(Yes I'm domesticated) x

There and to the left a bit

When you say "just picked up" OP does that suggest they were professionally washed at a dry cleaners or similar? If so surely you have grounds to complain and either have them to restore to their original pristine condition or replace them at their cost?

don't tar us all with the same brush

I'm very careful when doing the laundry so shit like this doesn't happen, indeed your whites are in very safe hands when I'm washing them.

If I stay at someone's and they offer to wash, I dislike those who don't understand the importance of having at least 3 colour batches - whites, miss and darks - let alone materials types.

I'd run a vanish and colour catcher as first effort but not on a very hot wash, which may. Help fix the colour in. We don't use bleach here, like we do in the USA, so I'd move on to a specialist white reinstater.

I like clothes to appear pristine. Serious punishments are due to those who blemish our attire.

because its quicker easier and cheaper, one wash instead of 2.

Another option could be a handwash/soak in something like Persil that has Oxygen bleach - if your clothes are suited to it.
