Sad news. He was my favourite when I was wee. My first vaguely coherent, and much repeated sentence was 'get down shep'.

Oh jeez, that's sad.

He was the first "action man" on kids tv, doing all the outdoorsy stuff, canoeing, climbing, getting trod on by an elephant... kinda got a real thirst for adventure from watching him.

RIP dude.

Aww, this was 'my' Blue Peter team growing up too. I loved how he always seemed to be the 'naughty boy' in that group, sniggering and corpsing while the other two kept a straight face.

Could you imagine one of today's presenters doing that, especially the last bit with the ladder facing backwards and no safety rope....Man was a true legend.
