"I'd like the first cat I never bought, just admired on the forecourt of the used car showroom when I first passed my test in 1978, a Fiat X19. I still remember the registration number, EUH 434V. It's probably scrapped now, but at least it would be cheaper to purchase now than then. " You'd be surprised. My Capri cost me £300. They're now fetching very good money. X/19 prices are pretty healthy at the moment too

"A brand new Lotus Elan....sadly they stopped making them in 1974 but what a bloody fast car they were plus the folding headlights were great " Bet there's a company out there that would do a resto mod on one. Modern Elise engine and gearbox. Better suspension and brakes etc. Closest thing to the elan these days is a Mazda mx5.

"I would like a "sleeper" just a normal tidy car with a total rebuild done, then when a guy wants to race me again! in his fast toy i can just leave him standing. Knowing my luck he would probably beat me up at the next lights." There is a bloke on a well known car forum (PH) who built a mk2 Ford Focus estate with a tuned Focus ST engine, gear box, suspension and brakes on it. It's got 19 inch steel wheels with only 3 wheel trims and from the outside it just looks like a basic blue estate. He rarely washes it too. Even has a national trust sticker in the back window.
