What to do and where to go

Posted this in UK forum but it seems I should put it here...I'm heading to Britain for a weekend at the end of June and browsing potential destinations. I see Hull is the City of Culture but i'd consider anywhere. I'd appreciate advice from British Fabbers with local knowledge. My choice won't revolve around swinging (though I won't mind if it happens ) Any advice on where to go? I'll happily reciprocate if anyone is coming over to visit Ireland.

Thanks for the recommendation.

City would be best I think. Good restaurants and bars are always a bonus

York goes on the list.

(I wanted to say thanks privately but your profile is hidden)

You can't beat Liverpool, full of culture, good bars, restaurants etc and lots to see and do around the city centre.

Scunthorpe

You could go to Scunthorpe... you'd double our annual tourism figures.

"Brighton - there's loads to do and see and lots going on."

I went to Brighton in November and had one of the best trips ever; even with the torrential rain and cold wind.

York

Depends on what you want really: York has lots of touristy things to do as well as culture, a racecourse, and lots of tipsy hen party women of an evening. Leeds has a couple of decent museums and quite a night scene (fancy dress seems de rigeur). Edinburgh is cool but may be beginning to be priced out of the market by then. Hull, yes, not for tourists unless your bag is 17/18c port architecture.

Newcastle ok, has a big theatre scene, nightclub scene but they talk funny up there. Liverpool, full of Irish folk.

good hunting.

margate sumwear by the sea

It's far from a city but if your looking for a brake from all the hassall and crouds and trafick then pop down to Margate.

It's a seaside town and it's (almost) all ways sunny.

It's got.....

Dreamland fun park

The turner art gallery

Grate see vues

Fresh air

Lots of quiet cost line to relax on

Hotels

Bars

Arcades

And it hosts sum big events like...

The melt down... A massive motorbike show

Witch ill add is on tomorrow

Or the X sports (I think it's cald that) / quid bikes racing on the sandey beach.
