Rugby, not that i can really profess to be particularly knowledgeable about Rugby or follow it in any shape or form; I just like the male players, they seem somewhat more manly and don't fall over crying every 5 minutes like their counterparts in Football

Used to like football but as the money poured in the cheating and abusing the ref increased so can't watch it anymore. Football would be much improved if the players and managers treated the ref with the same respect as in rugby union. Although can't imagine a premiership footballer saying "excuse me, can I talk to you, sir" to a ref anytime soon!

The funniest football moment ever happened off the pitch when "footballs philosopher" joey barton was invited to be a guest of the BBC's pseudo-intellectual show 'Question Time'. He did the public speaking equivalent of shitting himself on camera.

I love football and always have but I do appreciate the respect that Rugby players show to the referee. You don't see that in football.

They are 2 different games.

Rugby is far more physical and football players do tend to dive and play act but why in a Rugby match when you punch a player you just get sent to the sin bin.

In football you are sent off?

Ps being Scottish we don't really shine at either sport lol !

To be fair there are exciting and boring styles in both games.

England aren't the most gripping rugby team to watch, Scotland vrs Italy in the six nations is an insomnia cure.

Then in football you get the teams near the bottom of the table who park the bus and pray one of their long range shots goes in for the 1-0 win. At the other end of the table you have Arsenal who always try to walk it in.

I wouldn't go to an away game again and sit with home fans. Merseyside Derby being a possible exception. Segregation is very much needed. I also like having an "away end" lets away fans create an atmosphere.

Oooooohh ok all.

I don't mean to cause division so perhaps I shouldn't have started this thread

I prefer rugby for the respect that is shown to the ref. Do this in football and all would be good. But that is down to the FA and refs.

Sort it, create respect then the stamping out of impestuous will follow.

i have been to both rugby and football games and have to say the atmosphere and fans at rugby games are much better than at football games.

Many years ago i worked at the old wembley stadium or the FA cup final. luckily i got to work up in the gallery serving the semi famous fans. Man city and someone else were playing. when it was time to go home it turned out that there had been riots and all sorts down on the concourse. tills were stolen and staff locked themselves inside their stands to keep themselves safe!

that same season i worked the rugby league final between Bradford Bulls and Leeds Rhinos (standard) and the fans mixed amicably, discussing missed points and poor reffing decisions over pints of beer.

now lets get on to union v league
