That awkward face pic exchange

I'm sure other people have experienced it. You chat to someone having not seen their face, then the inevitable face pic exchange and it goes quiet, or you're the one not knowing how to let the other person down.

I'm sure it would be a bit of a kick in the balls but would you rather be told straight or left to make up a reason in your own mind?

I think really everyone appreciates honesty, but I remember it always made me feel a bit shallow letting someone down.

Luckily for me I only come on here to forum chat so I don't have to devastate the ladies on here

Not if you are adult about it. I get turned down a lot but shrug and accept it. I would not like to feel that anyone is obligated to meet even if we have been chatting for ages.

I get the hint when things go quiet.

I hate the face picture exchange its always so awkward. it's far better for me if they just delete the message and have no further contact. I would do the same. No hard feelings as we are both strangers after all.

There has to be attraction and there has to be honesty. If I'm not attracted to someone I just tell them that they are not for me.

A few weeks ago, I received a fantastic message. Well written, witty and when I looked at the profile I thought, gosh he sounds the perfect meet. He was fairly local too. I messaged back and asked for a face pic which he duly sent. I was so flipping disappointed as he was, let's say, not terribly good looking, pretty scary! I told him straight... Not attracted to you, sorry. He thanked me for my time! I felt bad But better to be honest and not rude.

I do find it awkward which is why I now ask for a face pic with first message unless there's already one on public display.

When I send a face pic then I'd rather be told if I'm not their type. It saves me messaging them in the future.

I always ask for a face pic early on and explain there has to be a connection. Goes for both sides, I totally understand if people aren't attracted to me , everyone has different tastes. So get it out of the way early so no awkwardness. Only problem I've had is liking the face pic, initial messaging then they turn creepy. Still got someone on my friends list who I haven't the heart to tell as we have chatted for a while, but like I said turned creepy. I will do it, just need to get enough courage to say we have different interests.

i just block them, much easier. and then i remember never to chat to guys without pics ever again.

I don't think it's that hard to just say that the person isn't my type after exchanging face pics. It's not all that awkward.

Having been on the receiving end of a post-face-pic-exchange 'no thanks', as well as a block, and just a blank, I can say that I prefer the 'no thanks' but that really none of the scenarios bother me and my ugly mug.

Yep - I agree it can be awkward - which is the principal reason I often have my face pics on show - ergo if the don't fancy me then they don't message me - simple!

If you look like your profile pic though I can't see an issue! You're cute!

Sorry but what's the point in chatting for a while if you don't know what they look like? Surely this exercise is a pointless waste of time, if your aim is to meet/have sex ultimately? I know some people are happy to chat away to headless profiles but if you get it out of the away initially, this would avoid wasting time? Just thinking out loud, sorry!

I ask for a face pic with the first or at the very least second message, so I don't chat without knowing what the guy looks like.

I also reply with a polite 'not for me' if I don't find him attractive enough to consider meeting - never a block or ignore (unless the accompanying message is crude)

Do the face pic exchange straight away before you get into chatting. It's the worst thing in the world telling someone they aren't your type and would hate someone to say it to me but I try and say it in the nicest way possible.
