It was beautiful here in Plymouth in the night. I thought a street lamp was flickering but it was the lightning that was strobe like.

Amazing!! 4000 strikes to Earth within 30 miles radius at its peak according to this site.....

http://www.bearsbythesea.co.uk/index.php

Beautiful!!!

At the risk of being picky, should this only have followed "thunderbolt" not "thunder and lightning"?

Reckon I must have slept through it then. Had my window open all night, wide open and I'm next to it!

Either that or it missed me.

There was hardly any thunder, heard a couple of faint rumbles and saw the flashes then opened the curtains to watch it. Kept expecting to hear the thunder coming as the flashes were right over the garden and the fork lightening was going right over the house horizontally in the sky.

Apparently that's a heat storm (been googling)
