Many many years ago my dearly departed mum had a little ornament at the top of the stairs. It was a bloke in a suit of armour and underneath it said

"ONCE A KING ALWAYS A KING, BUT ONCE A KNIGHT IS NEVER ENOUGH"

Now I passed this thing for years and never give it a second thought, then a few years ago when I was clearing out her house I came across it, only then did I realise what it said and sat and laughed, laughed till I cried

What things did you see or hear as a child which years later you suddenly realised what it meant?

I opened a condom as a kid and declared it preformed chewing gum, for blowing bubbles with. My mum still thinks it's funny
