It's much harder than it sounds because there has been so many excellent songs released over the years.

No need to list in rank order. Getting it down to 10 is hard enough !

Mine would be :

Sam Cooke : Change is gonna come

Eva Cassidy : Time after time (better than the Lauper version imho)

Louis Armstrong : St. James Infirmary Blues

ABBA : The winner takes it all

The Beatles : In my Life

Soft Cell : Say hello, Wave goodbye

Peggy Lee : I've got them feelin' too good today blues

Madredeus : O Pastor

The Stone Roses : I wanna be adored

Gladys Knight : Part time love

Geez that took some doing (there are so many runners up)

I couldn't pick 10 consistently. I'd give you some then think, "Wait a minute, can't have no Aretha. So I'd put Aretha in - 'Natural Woman', naturally, or maybe her version of 'What a Fool Believes', then I'd think, "What a fool! No Doobies? Come on, gurl, you love 'Take Me In Your Arms' for a chair-dance." Then I'd get my chair-dancing playlist out and start adding Earth, Wind & FIre and Dirty Old Ann or Girls Aloud but who do I take out?

I hate this game.
