Memory foam mattresses... all they're cracked up to be?

We need a new bed - can't think why! - and have been thinking about getting one of these. Are they genuinely better than the traditional spring types for sleeping on, and also curious about whether they are more or less suited to sex fun and games (worried about sinking in too far, or getting less purchase with me toes etc! )

Would never swap mine. I love it.

Makes you sweat more. And it feels slow when fucking on it in the way it responds. Like everything else new one gets used to it.

Great for my back and for a restful sleep.

We have a spring mattress with memory foam on the top

Cost a fortune and to be honest it took me a while to get used to it,im still not sure if I like it or not and we've had it a few months now

I also found that its really warm too

Wouldnt be without mine though they do hold a lot of heat . Great for a good nights sleep and not bad for bonking either . Mine has a zipped cover which can be removed.

I got memory foam pillows and hated them. I have the most expensive garden kneeler in the shed now... great for that. Too heavy and cumbersome but do as they say - mould into shape - of the bedstead.

They are lovely, I like a firm one but found it very comfortable, it kind of hugs you.

For fun and games you need to make sure you have a sturdy base.

For leakages make sure you have a waterproof cover on it. You can get some good ones these days topped with soft fabrics. The pillows are good too I have a sculpted one which I find great, but there are regular ones available too.

Thanks everyone. the comfort thing sounds good, but just a tad worried about the heat retention, as I (*him*) sleep quite warm anyway. *she* would love it though, as she likes to steam when she's asleep!

No they are not all they have cracked up to be. I have one and though its hugely more soft than the mattress I had, my friends is a lot softer than my memory foam mattress. Either way though, its no different to playing on a normal mattress. And no you don't sink too far into it

I found that using a summer quilt has helped with the heat, they do get incredibly hot including the pillows, so a thinner quilt helps. To be honest though, I cant wait until I can buy a proper mattress and put my memory foam mattress in the spare room as I think mine is a waste of money. And thats where the issue lies, it is all dependent on where you get it from, even though mine is for my weight, it does not mould to my body

I like the sound of these mattresses too, especially the heat bit, I'm like a lizard in the winter, very cold blooded, like to be warm and toasty. I have a memory foam pillow and I like that, took a little while to get used to though

in the night garden

If you find any cracks in it, my advice would be to take it back.

You can buy memory foam "toppers" for ordinary matresses. Ive used one and found them far cooler than the standard memory foam matresses, which as many have pointed out retain heat and can make you sweat.

Ive also found that a really good quilt helps too - we spend all year round under a 4.5 tog goosedown quilt. Much, much better than the polyester spun hollow fibre things.

Oh, and for anyone wanting to try a memory foam pillow to see if you get on with them - go to Primark (or Premarche if your in Kensington). They have memory foam pillows for £10 each and they wonr break the bank if you find you cant get on with them!
