I thought both of the Murdochs stood up to the questioning quite well....plenty of posturing by a couple of the MP's though.

The Lib Dem MP who wouldn't (or couldn't) get the point that with 52,000 employees and countless layers of management, that Rupert Murdoch at the age of 80 didn't speak to the various editors of all of his papers on a daily basis really got my goat....

NewsCorp currently owns 112 newspaper/magazine publications worldwide....the poor old sod would be constantly on the phone!

So is there any proof that says otherwise?.....has anyone proved (Police for example) that James Murdoch had first hand knowledge of payments to those operating illegal acts?

I think he has acted with enormous grace and showed signs of being very humble when it came to meeting the Dowler family.....particularly as the police line on the Dowler hacking is that it is still far from proven...and could quite easily prove to be press tittle tattle started by the Daily Star.

There is so much crap being spouted by rival newspapers that it is difficult to see what is a fact and what is mischief making.

i am not saying he is guilty of asnything i am saying he was very vague with some of his answers.the police enquiery that is ongoing will hopefully be able to shed more light on who is guilty and who has been wronged in all this

he may not have been aware,of all that went on in his organisation.this is true,but i do believe,he was fully aware,of the atmosphere of fear,corruption,and disrespect for authority,and law,within parts of his organisation.

i dont think he would want,or needs,anybody's sympathy.

there are many causes,far more deserving.

There was no demand for anyone to be full with their answers as this is not a judicial investigation.

Brooks behaved as expected. The number of times per minute that woman blinks made her look like she'd overdosed on amphetamines beforehand. Of the Murdochs, the son was shown to be someone thrust into a corporate role who can give out corporate speak without being commanding. The old man... well, I thought he came out of it very well. There's a tendency in the media to paint this picture of him as being some kind of Bond villain, a man with an evil cackle with both hands wrapped around the globe. He looked very old and if anything the investigation today actually made him appear a lot more human than might have been expected.

The turd of the day was Sir Paul Stephenson. Incredibly defensive, decidedly vague over specific details, and yet coached well enough prior to today's questioning to be able to remember things like the percentage share of British newspapers that news International holds. When put against his sniping against Cameron the other day, I have a feeling a lot more shit will come out of Stephenson and I hope he is squeezed until his pips doth squeak!

But what the MPs can do is pull their licence to print newspapers and own TV stations.

they buy the publication that drove the behaviours, they knew the reporters went thro rubbish bins, would buy tit bits from anyone who would sell out their own family... these are the same that will flout laws when it suits... and stand in judgement of others when they do..

probably tipped off by someone high up in the met who was or is a 'friend' that she was about to be arrested..

the whole thing was staged imho, they have no doubt been receiving comprehensive 'training' on what to say etc since the about turn by murdoch senior last weekend.

the old boy was acting all 'humble' and slightly confused, obviously cos of his 'declining years'..absolute tosh

last week he was all bullish in one of his new york publications about how well the affair had been handled thus far and in denial...

does anyone actually believe the son knew nothing, if he was really wanting to make 'amends and change their companies journalistic practises' he would have turned up and waved news corps side of the confidentiality agreements when they paid Gordon Taylor £750k and Max Clifford and Sienna Millar also.

this company paid part of the Mulcare's legal fees for the 2006 case, the same guy who they then kept on doing the same shitty things and who eventually hacked Milly Dowlers phone...

and whose else....

this is nothing but a face saving exercise, accompanied by the delete buttons and shredders glowing hot from over use to save their arses...

Can't help but think this really is just a load of hyped up bollox to get us all excited again like the "expenses scandal" - an event that the rest of the world mocked us for. Most Politicians in the world might throw the towel in when they have embezzled at least 20 million not a few quid on a mistresses apartment or garden pond cleaning.

This too smacks over over hype and stupid Ed Milliband is just taking it too far with his outrageous comments that simply defy common law.

Here are a few facts:

Journalists went way over the top because they were under great pressure to get the story. We don't always tell our bosses how we got the job done - we just did it.

News Int & News Corp employ tens of thousdands of people all over the world. The NOTW was just one of their verey many Titles, not to mention other media outlets.

How can anyone possibly expect a man in his 80's to remember and recall every detail about something that happened in one newspaper.

The Police and Journo's have always been in each others pocket - this is not news.

If David cameron feels the need to resign because of this "scandal" it is time for us all to leave this country as it has totally lost all sense of proportion.
