Important! Kodi update patch

Jump to newest

By (user no longer on site) OP

Just had a message saying.

Earlier today. Security researchers discovered a security hole in kodi that exposes users to serious risks.

Kodi have released an update that fixes the issue.

Basically it's a patch on 17.2 that shouldn't require a fresh install of kodi....it took me about 10 minutes to do and I would recommend all users to do this asap

But I'll type my own instructions in.

From the home menu ...go to the browser and type in kodi downloads. Click on kodi tv. Select android...then 32 bit option. Once it has downloaded go back to app menu and select Appinstaller. ..click on local disc then it should open up 17.2...click on it....it will open up the app install...make sure at the top it is underlined "new" not "all".... then click on the install and job done

With them instructions there is no need for a fresh install....it will save you having to put your build back on

Heard recently many isps have started to block servers kodi uses to access premium subscription content.. rendering it useless for the purposes of why many employ it as a content delivery medium.

It'll probably be circumvented but something to bare in mind. Isps will also start sending out cease and desist orders to some users too apparently.

Well if you bear in mind that kodi is free to use it don't think anyone has any causes to complain whatever may happen to it. Do you?

Go to apps....delete kodi then follow instructions I put. But you will have to install "all" as opposed to "new" then add your build to it.

Give me a shout if you get stuck

Got a email off sketch this morning...telling me they had turned on my router security! Hardly anything worked on kodi!

Telephone call to sky telling them to turn it off as I never requested this as I have my own device security.

They turned it back off and all is back to normal

I think you will find this and perfect example of the so called "fake news".

They have picked up the fact that navi x has stopped operating. Navi x in the early days of kodi was a good addon but in recent times it had become outdated in its amateurish format. It was never updated to work with kodi 17! But in reality no one was using it anymore so it died a natural death.

Add to that that they have not maned these 3 so called addons that have been forced to stop. It would take the mails article with a pinch of salt and realise the have tried to make a story out of bugger all

I just upgraded my install to 17.3 on my android box and raspberry pi so hopefully bypassed all of this.

There is an ongoing crackdown on kodi buy mainly for live stuff which I rarely use it for anyhow so fingers crossed it pulls through lol.

Yep your right gobble and sportie are not working well and have taken a lot of premium channels off....but that was always a grey area of kodi and as you say...I can live with that
