"people can be offended if they want to be. some people are just ignorant fucks with no social skills whatsoever but there are many less offensive people who don't know how to handle the ignorant fucks so will want advice on why it happens, how to stop it happening again, others thoughts on what happened, etc. they can ask for that on the forums if they want to." Of course they can be. But is it not better to try to avoid being a victim and having a dreadful time by just ignoring stuff which has no impact on you whatsoever?

"Someone said something to us earlier and it was obvious that they were just trying their luck and it was our turn. But if we get offended we will get much more attention for it and people will post telling us how amazing and brave we are and how an entire tract of humanity totally innocent of this needs to buck it's ideas up. Or we could just ignore it, be tough enough not to let it upset us and have a happy day. What do you guys recommend?" take notes and wait until you bump into then on a social after all its a very very small world ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Easily said by the tough among us who have a level of self esteem that allows us to shrug off comments we know aren't true. Nobody knows another's background and some people are vulnerable.

And as swinging is supposedly a sociable leisure activity, one would assume that applies to giving advice.

That is undeniable. Why are we making a virtue of it though? Instead of helping toughen people up we are rewarding inability to deal with every day situations and we are making banal occurrences much worse by blowing them out of all proportion. Wallowing in weakness is not good. Identifying them and taking steps to address them is admirable.

Why do you feel that talking down to vulnerable people (which is often what happens on here)) is helping them?

"Some people like to be the centre of attention. On here there are many people who like to enable that. Same as most internet forums really." And same as life. I had a friend who didn't like people looking at her but would walk into the centre of any gathering saying "don't look at me" in a very loud voice. Cue sympathy and trying to calm her down from friends except evil old me who would say "nobody would look at you if you stayed on the edge and kept quiet".

"Sometimes, people need a little reassurance and understanding, which seems to be impossible for some people to give, on here. " Yes, we all do at times. However in my opinion along with that strategies to help prevent them feeling that way again are useful too.

"Sometimes, people need a little reassurance and understanding, which seems to be impossible for some people to give, on here. Yes, we all do at times. However in my opinion along with that strategies to help prevent them feeling that way again are useful too." Strategies from professionals who know what they are talking about. Not someone on here ridiculing or berating them. Unfortunately, there are vultures and wolves on here, waiting for vulnerable prey.

People should toughen themselves up so they can deal with more every day things. Not doing so is their choice but it is criticisable especially when they expect others to help or to change to suit their willful victimhood.

"Has anybody mentioned snowflakes yet? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() . Sometimes I get to feelin' I was back in the old days, long ago When we were kids, when we were young Things seemed so perfect, you know The days were endless, we were crazy we were young The sun was always shining,we just lived for fun Sometimes it seems like lately, I just don't know The rest of my life's been just a show. Those were the days of our lives The bad things in life were so few Those days are all gone now but one thing is true When I look and I find I still love you. You can't turn back the clock, you can't turn back the tide Ain't that a shame? ![]() ![]() ![]()
