I used to cycle but then I stopped being a teenager and stopped playing out on them. The best thing to do to stop yourself being injured is to work harder earn more money and buy a car. But if you still want to cycle go down the park with your mates. Perhaps you could build a ramp and jump off it or see who can leave the longest skid mark off their back wheel

That bitterness you exhibit at people exercising and enjoying themselves, is there an underlying reason for it?

Good of you to carry on another vitriolic thread which came to an end.

Even kinder of you to continue it with such a snide sneering post.

I hope being so utterly inconsiderate and incapable of seeing that other people are entitled to cycle and actually get healthy whilst not clogging roads up with unnecessary cars and pollution.

I am a car driver but I refuse to be grouped with people who post as you have done.

I bike everywhere! To work and back...

My mates ask me why I always stand when I bike, my reply is because I sit at work and home ...

My legs are very strong...

It'll just keep going in the same venom spitting circles. What it boils down to is.

There are some shit cyclists

There are some shit HGV drivers

There are some shit pedestrians

There are some shit motorcyclists

There are some shit horse riders

I'm not a cyclist but there are people who vy me as s means to keep fit, to commute, to be kinder to the environment etc etc. What you are saying is like saying to car drivers, if you want to drive a car get down to the racetrack rather than take up space on the road. Live and let live

I quite like my early morning ride to work. Time to wake up, exercise, fresh air and a small respect for the environment.

Makes me nice and calm. Others should try it.

Usually as the years pass people become more mature, this appears to be one of the exceptions which prove the rule.

Cyclists don't need to justify themselves, just need to let you keep pushing lunatic gibberish and it does that for them.

I feel I should point out you need a licence to drive your car on the road, which can be taken off you. And insurance because cars are a danger to people. And road tax to pay for repairs caused by cars damaging our roads.

Being a bike user I don't need any of these things plus I'm not causing untold damage to the environment.

Thankyou that's all I have to say

I've got a really nice car... I love it. But I don't enjoy driving it as much as I love riding my bike both road and mountain.

Am professional am grown up I employ people I boxed for 22 years and after giving up I found the difficulty and challenge as well as fun of cycling is just the dogs bollox.

Also note... Adidas and nike have halved their production of golf equipment in favour of increased cycling equipment... markets moving that way.

Pity you can't.

Wow... someone clearly pissed on the OPs shreddies at some point to make them so bitter.

I drive/ride:

- A 3.5t van

- A car

- A motorcycle

- A pushbike

And of them, the pushbike is used the most. I commute to/from work on it everyday and take the little one to school on a tag-a-long on the back.

I love cycling as it clears my head in the morning and after work. And I've lost 10kg and stay trim doing it. It is also the fastest way to get around Bristol.

So, whilst riding a bike to commute to work to earn money to buy a car, you sustain a life changing injury from a car driven by someone who absolutely broke the law, just because said car wanted to turn right at a no right turn.

What happens then?

There are a few cyclists that make things bad for all of them. This is primarily down to ignorance. Since there is no need to pass a test to ride a bicycle, many have no idea what the highway code is.

That said, I have seen many trailers being towed at 70mph in the outside lane of a motorway, simply because the driver has no idea different speed limits apply when towing and that towing in the outside lane is forbidden.

The answer is education, not ridicule.

However in the ops defence, I see more cyclists riding on the footpath than I see cars on them. I see more unlit bicycles than unlit cars. I get particularly infuriated when cyclists refuse to use cycle lanes and when they force pedestrians into the road by cycling on footpaths.

The attitude that roads are too dangerous so they must ride on footpaths simply implies that it's ok to ride into pedestrians because they are soft and sqidgy as opposed to hard metal vehicles which hurt.

Well you are safe as its a single profile but you do describe yourself well! Nothing like an oxymoron to start a Monday off.

The thread was posted from a couples profile hence Christos's comments. ...

it's ok, it was a go at me...by doing the same thing. it's an oxymoron sandwich now! we're all at it

Hardly as I didn't drop to that level of directly insulting another user but your reply to me clearly affirms your first comment was a direct attack if you think that. you make no sense

you said "Well you are safe as its a single profile but you do describe yourself well!" directly to me...so you did

what an odd argument you have

I've read it over several times and I'm at a loss."

i'm pretty lost now

There are a lot of words I could express to the OP, but won't, can only assume it's a slow news day and you're seeking a little attention, can think of better ways to do this without starting an age old argument yet again.

I love it when ingnorant people express their views. Even better when someone with no facts, or even a shred of open mindedness or forward thinking does. It does amuse!

Whats the next thread? Cyclist vs Walkers?

(P.S. I am fully aware it is another sore subject).

"There are a few cyclists that make things bad for all of them.

The attitude that roads are too dangerous so they must ride on footpaths simply implies that it's ok to ride into pedestrians because they are soft and sqidgy as opposed to hard metal vehicles which hurt."

oh my youre inferring that intelligent sensible people dont ride bikes or in fact dont drive generalising is a major problem when having an opinion ,we have equal amounts of bad irresponsible motor vehicle drivers as we have cyclists ,I think the original inference was that as an adult we should have grown out of the bicycle as a mode of transport because a bicycle is for children ha

There is nothing childish about cycling. I really wish I could still ride, although, I wouldn't feel safe on the road and probably would go to the park.

I've had a competitive cycling career, travelled all over the world and continue to work in the bicycle industry. So all those days as a kid, pedalling all over the place, paid off. Nowadays, I still ride my bike for fitness, fun, and well being. I drive a car too. I love the fact that cycling has become popular, in the U.K. for many reasons, and many people enjoy riding their bikes, as kids, teenagers or adults.

We don't stop riding bikes, because we've grown old.

We grow old, because we stop riding bikes

I actually appreciate the explanation. Well in, would love to see more of this sort of accountability and transparency.

I cycle and drive. Seems to me that the OP is a bit childish which makes his post seem a bit stupid. What has age got to do with cycling?

"There was a time when you could take these morons to task. You could shake your fist and shout and point out that it’s absurd for a fully grown adult to be playing in public on what is a kids’ toy.

Jeremy Clarkson. "

clarkson is a pube headed wanker and based on the fact that he is regularly papped on a push bike, he's also a hypocrite.

"Did this need a part 2?

It'll just keep going in the same venom spitting circles. What it boils down to is.

There are some shit cyclists

There are some shit car drivers

There are some shit HGV drivers

There are some shit van drivers

There are some shit pedestrians

There are some shit motorcyclists

There are some shit horse riders

There are shit some bus drivers

Why not just chill the fuck out, enjoy your driving/riding/walking/whatever, and respect each other even in the face of advers provocation.

"

Well said
