Such a vulnerable bunch, my thoughts over the last few days have been with Nicky Hayden.

Same here, I've been a big fan of his throughout his career and really hope his prognosis improves. He's a seriously poorly chap at the moment.

a quandary, could you change my mind?

Often thought that to be able to get a car licence that the bike licence should come first!

Nb. I have held my driving licence for 30 years and had the ability to ride on L plates on the 50cc, I stopped riding until 10 years ago, direct access course and I must admit it did refresh things for me, helped remind me about the vulnerability of the two wheels.

Too many people see a bike and a rider as a vehicle. Not a human on a machine. Recent videos of instances like the van pushing the cyclist off the road seem to prove my point.

No body can rock Lycra on a bike, no matter what colour it is.

I ride a motorbike and I always have my headlight on, my bike is nice and bright and I wear bright colours but drivers just don't bloody see you coming or they just don't look properly, it takes me 15 minutes to get to work and in every journey I have to take evasive action to avoid someone pulling out on me, it's a bloody nightmare. I actually have an idea for an invention that would warn drivers of incoming motorbikes but you need bags of cash to get it off the ground.

I've (mr) been riding motorbikes since I was 13 and totally agre with you people should have to ride a bike to give them more awareness of cyclists and bikers

There is something already there and technology has been there for ovef 2 decades now. The Paris Dakar use it to warn both bikes and cars of their proximity. I'm a biker and FBOS. I ride as if everyone else is blind or stupid. ..mostly the latter as so many are.
