Why lie?

I've had a few meets now were it has been quite clear the person has lied about their age. I don't know why because age is just a number after all, but just don't understand why you'd choose to lie.

One lady in particular claimed to be 27 when 40 was closer to the mark. A fact she admitted to after our meet. For me it isn't a problem but just don't know why you'd bother to lie in the first place

It's because for many people age is an automatic filter, regardless of what the person is actually like.

Because they've uploaded holiday pics from 15 years ago so use that age. No idea why but definitely happens.

That's fine but I guess if you were not the age that person was looking for it would be very disgenuine to choose to lie about it just to get yourself into bed with someone when in all likelyhood you could face the real prospect of being rejected in person

for you it doesn't matter, for other people they do have age ranges and if you are over/under a certain age you won't get as much interest or meets.

so that'll be why. kinda sad to lie about stuff but usually people who do that have their own interests as a priority and not other peoples.

Well here's the thing .

There are so many people on here who will go ahead despite the fact that people lie about their age , or upload pics which are clearly not representative of their current looks .

Until people maintain their standards and say no when this happens , it will continue .

So it's up to us all to stop it by having respect for ourselves and calling them out for it .

Yeah , like that's gonna happen anytime soon !

I know quite a few people who lied about their birthdate and by extension their age on here so their real date of birth and therefore possibly their identity is concealed. That's totally understandable. I also know a fair few people who have shaved a few years off their age (normally around 5 or so). In fact, I know so many who have I now wonder if people assume everyone does and therefore I too must be in my mid to late forties - when the reality is I was simply too dumb to think about changing my age when I joined the site.

People are rubbish at guessing ages anyway. I'm always being told I look younger than I am. Maybe the 40 year old 27 year old had also been told it so many times she believed it. Fab's a site where you can indulge a fantasy or two. Even a time travel one. I'm not saying I approve necessarily but I understand.

I have my real age on my profile despite looking at least 10 years younger. It counts against me as I am way older than a lot of women want to meet. But I'd rather be honest about things

Various reasons including insecurities but on fab, age filtering is active for many people - some may increase it, others the opposite.

Op - if you're finding it common for you, maybe cam with them first so that you're happy

Both if I'm honest. And not necessarily big lies. For example some people put their location on here as the next town or village (or somewhere 10 miles away) Not far enough to be off radar but far enough sometimes to be out of scope for people where you live.

Or using pics from 5 years and 20lbs ago. Etc etc

I'm the right age most of the year but it goes up about a month earlier on here than in real life. Although the number of birthdays I have on here means I'm about 73 now.

If you can find it, there was an episode on the last series of Chewing Gum where the grandmother passes herself off as a twentysomething. The sex club episode was good too.

I change my location to have more variety..why is that a lie?. I never say I'm from there to anyone. Some of my picture are over a year old and I wasn't as big as I am now. So they are all lies in your book?

We present the image we are happy for people to see on first glance which isn't unusual.

Your profile states you're from the UK. As such it would be reasonable to expect that you weren't actually from ROI or France.

I've known people on here take 9-10 years off their actual age.

It's not just ladies that lie about they're age, sad really because like a lot of people on here I'm not really bothered about age. I get that people might lie about age on profile but once they've snuck past peoples age filters and are regularly chatting to someone with the view to meet they should confess all!

I've met age liars before with the intention of a naughty meet and that's quickly changed to a drink and an excuse to leave purely because they've lied and not come clean before the meet, even tho some have been very sexy and my type .............
