Good evening heroes and villains!

Last night we were discussing our favourite superhero movies, so I have decided to change the discussion a little for tonight.

What is your favourite video game and why?

I would say that mine is Final Fantasy X as it was the first one that I completed without help from anyone - plus, how great was that soundtrack?!

Evenin' Ella.

I'm going to go for... Maniac Mansion. The branching stories, the multiple endings, the many, many ways to inadvertently kill yourself.

Point'n'click bliss.

Honourable mention goes to Carmageddon 2. I've probably put more hours into that game than any other I've ever played.

I find it cheaper than messing with my real life cars

Ghost Recon Wildlands is taking up a lot of my free time though as it's very addictive.

GTA San Andreas

I got completely lost in how huge it was. I spent so long playing it one day that when I got in the car, I had to remind myself to drive on the left.

And after stopping for a bit, I found myself missing driving around the streets

Very interesting choices to be honest.

I think that this thread is going to give me a lot of ideas for new games to play

Final fantasy X was so much worse than 7 or 8

I would say resident evil 2 or even crash bandicoot and spyro. I spent hours mastering those games.

Ever? Like ever ever?

WoW. I pwned that game so hard. GM of one of the best hardcore raiding groups in one of the best EU servers - I loved my 'lock, her succubus inspired my cosplay. My DP was unreal with a few good raiders with me. I farmed and got the best drops 'cause I was awesomely mean. And I actually met an ex on there! Oh and it was epic hearing the surprise in people when they realised I was a woman on vent.

A close second - Dota 2. Pro player for some time before I realised that my Masters was more important.

Oh and Limbo is fucking frustratingly beautiful and glorious. That's a joint second with Dota.

Well I loved it. We all have a reason for loving things and enjoying different ones are what make us unique. So although I disagree with your opinion, I accept it.

I've not gelled with the latest Battlefield game and don't like the direction Call of Duty has gone so tried my first Tom Clancy game and tbh it's brilliant, reminds me of the old Battlefield Bad Company games which I used to play religiously.

Final Fantasy VIII.

The first one I played and completed. I completely fell in love with it.

To be fair X is an awesome game, I recently played through the HD remaster and it was stunning.

Yuna is one of my favourite characters across all of the games.

Now, would you like the rest by platform or genre?

My credentials to allow me to state are as follows...

I'm old, I've been playing games be they arcade, console, home PC or other formats since the advent of the Home computer (& I mean Vic-20, Spectrum 48k [RUBBER KEYS- KINKEEEEE], Acorn Electron, Pong and spent more time in arcades than most people spend married or in a job, let alone happy and having fun. :P

Shit, did I just get my geek all over you lovely people? Sorry...

I go to Comic Cons in London quite a lot. Well I did before the real world hit and I got a job. . That's where the majority of my cosplaying is done. MMO's are amazing for it. I've just got a really easily addicted competitive personality if that makes sense? So I know I'm a good gamer but if I do I don't do anything else properly.

Thanks, I genuinely appreciate that!

WoW. "

5 years lost playing WoW. Came into the game just at the end of Vanilla.

Also GM of a large Guild that snagged server firsts, even though it was casual. My raiding wing was imbaaaaaaa.

I was first Level 70 warrior on my server and inside top 10 first to 70.

Had 10 level 70's toons for Burning Crusade, one of each class; all geared and skilled enough to use them for raiding to fit my guild's raid slots and requirements.

Took a break and came back for Wrath and rejoined many of my old underlings who had gone off to form a new guild and had a great time for a while.

Oh yes ! Only problem female characters online kind of like the African american and Indian as medic and sniper both are hugely inaccurate to the extent portrait, although present in the war they did not have as a big of a role obv due to the racism as well as different fronts

My first computer was a spectrum 48k and we had vic 20's in my school,

I also remember the teachers pushing a BBC computer in on a trolley

HAHAHA oh yeah, those were the days!

They loved rolling those trolleys in, beat the bigger one with those insanely large TV's on and then trying to figure out how to work the TV and Video, right?

I loved my Vic-20. Till it died. "

Haha, We used to be sitting on the floor waiting for them to set it up,

"The Metal Gear Solid series. Hands down the best games I've ever played and still my favourites. The story telling is first rate, the world and alternate ti_eline they created are incredible too. So much detail went in to each one of the games; it's just a shame they're done with now that Hideo Kojima has left Konami

Okay first off, I love Kojima, he is an actual genius!

The Mass Effect franchise are amazing games I must admit as well!

Mass Effect is amazing, I have a soft spot for any sort of RPG.

The Civilization series is another good one.

Yes, Civ is a great series. "

Last night we were discussing our favourite superhero movies, so I have decided to change the discussion a little for tonight.

I would say that mine is Final Fantasy X as it was the first one that I completed without help from anyone - plus, how great was that soundtrack?!"

"Good evening heroes and villains!

Last night we were discussing our favourite superhero movies, so I have decided to change the discussion a little for tonight.

What is your favourite video game and why?

I would say that mine is Final Fantasy X as it was the first one that I completed without help from anyone - plus, how great was that soundtrack?!

Consistently the mario series, although read dead was cool

I only really like the classic Mario games to be honest.

Ì was always a nintendo fan. When they try, they do amazing things

Pokemon is my favourite from Nintendo "

Battlefield 1- historic one of a kind. Has the best soundtrack of power almost as good as COD W@W soviet.

Borderlands-again soundtracks good game play rpg, mad Moxxie oooft !! Need fantasy there and all the innuendoes.

CATCH A RIDE!!!!!

I never really got into Battlefield, but I can agree with the other two

Can't wait fir the 3rd borderlands especially with all the new graphics!.

And hopefully destiny 2 is better than the 1st the trailer was brilliant

I'm hoping it won't be as buggy as well to be honest"

"

What is your favourite video game and why?"

Vic-20 - Ratrace

Spectrum 48k - Jet Set Willy franchise

BBC/Acorn - Repton

Spectrum +2 - Dizzy series

Spectrum +3 - Cybernoid

Amiga/Atari ST era - Railroad Tycoon or Speedball II

Console:

NES/SNES - Mario!

Sega MEgadrive - Sonic

N64 - Goldeneye!!!! Killer Instinct close second.

PS 1 - FFVII

Arcade:

PacMan

Space Invaders

Hard Drivin'

Nemesis/Salamander/Gradius III series

Operation Wolf

Arkanoid

Street Fighter/Mortal Kombat/Killer Instinct

King of Boxers

(to name a few...)

Loved all the games above, reason, misspent youth, childhood memories, escapism and meeting so many new friends and having a laugh with total strangers.

Gaming, bringing people together since invented, gotta love it.

"

Did you ever play Shadow of Mordor?"

Completed it several times, good replay value.

Sequel looks epic!

Gaming is such a varied thing. I agree, amazing variety how people play/choose to play/what they play.

Some people are staggered by the mouse I have, it's an MMO mouse with 40+ buttons on and they can't understand why I would need a mouse with so many buttons let alone a 40 inch screen or multiple monitors and a mouse and keyboard that is backlit/glow in the dark.

How some people live is beyond me without knowing such escapism as gaming.

Skyrim and SoM are recently pretty much right up there for me as best handover/takeover games for Final Fantasy as non linear gaming in vast worlds that have been intricately created for gamer experience rather than just shitting out another game to make money.

Both Skyrim and SoM are like WoW without having to pay monthly in some ways. Huge gameplay fields without restriction, play as you like, RP if you wish and as you want, how you want.

SoM II better be bloody good!

Must also mention, best stealth 'em up since Syphon Filter for PS has to be Sniper Elite 1, 2 and 3, not played 4 yet but I have a hard on to do so.

(P.S, anyone claiming to be a gamer that has not played Zelda: Ocarina should be an Ex, that is ground for divorce let alone being made an ex!)
