As we approach the festival season

I get very upset at people who feel the need to get on people's shoulders so THEY can see

Screw the people behind them

Is it just me?

Up there with filming the whole show on your phone or

Taking endless pictures

Take a cpl

And constantly walking out during gigs. At the O2 last year the blokes in front of us went out to get rounds of pints through the entire gig.

Sit the fuck down you've paid a lot of money and so have we. To see a lot of you standing in front of us.

Boils my blood

Grrrrrrrr

Last festival i went to had people throwing bottles of piss at each other. If someone had got onto someone else's shoulders they would have fallen off and been trampled . I find it hard to sympathise with the OP. If you don't like it, stay home.

So you are saying (correct me if I've misunderstood, I'm sure you will)

If I have paid to see a band and wish to....see the band I should stay home because the people who paid for tickets who wish to obstruct my view take priority?

Back in the day. Original reading festival , monsters of rock etc you were allowed cans of beer in the arena. These were often used to deter people on shoulders and as a result there were very few.

No problem with people on shoulders but huge problem with mobile phones and even iPads being held up all the time!

Also why does the tall guy always come and stand in front of me?

If you don't like it, don't go to festivals... or must people abide by your rules? Maybe you could publish a helpful pamphlet, and hand it out at the entrance? You know, just to make sure everyone knows how YOU want them to behave. Perhaps write a strongly worded letter to a newspaper? Or just dry your eyes, change your nappy, and get on with it, excepting the fact that life isn't made with just you in mind.

It's kinda what you expect when you go to festivals though. I remember going to a gig once and the people behind us were actually sat down the entire time and spent the whole time complaining because everyone else was stood up.

Get a life!

OP, you posted a thread asking for opinion. People have provided an opinion, and you call someone that provides an opinion you do not like a dick.

I put it to you, Sir, that it is your behaviour that is pretty dickish. I'm totally going to get atop someone's shoulders if I'm ever in front of you at a gig. Just deserts.

I put it to you ma'am

That I have no issue with someone disagreeing

But it's the manner in which it is done

Give an opinion

Don't belittle me for my post

'Dry my eyes'

'Stay at home'

'Change my nappy'

Pathetic

But if that style of disagreement floats your boat

Good for you

But it's not at all mature

I'll look forward to seeing people throw objects at you to get you off the shoulders so we can all enjoy the show

Lots of love

But my point is you're placing tone and interpretation on the post, and then even if you feel the post is rude, you're then colluding, exacerbating or perhaps starting (if one doesn't find the challenge as harsh as you've taken it) personal insults. Skip it. Acknowledge a different perspective. Or do as you are, and be prepared to be accused of the same dickishness. If you accept you're being rude, cool. I think (and this is where I'm placing interpretation on your post and I'm open to correction) you may feel your rudeness justified. I put it to you, I think your post the more dickish. So that being said I accept your dick insults to me, as you've already provided.

Enjoy your thread.

My main issue with the blokes who have their partners on shoulders etc is that they should be facing the other way

Seriously though, it can be a pain, but I guess often the person up on the shoulders is small and can't see too well.

I'm tall and have spent my life slumping in seats so others can see. The latest phsyio I've seen bollocked me for doing it

I put it to you, Sir, that it is your behaviour that is pretty dickish. I'm totally going to get atop someone's shoulders if I'm ever in front of you at a gig. Just deserts.

I put it to you ma'am

That I have no issue with someone disagreeing

But it's the manner in which it is done

Give an opinion

Don't belittle me for my post

'Dry my eyes'

'Stay at home'

'Change my nappy'

Pathetic

But if that style of disagreement floats your boat

Good for you

But it's not at all mature

I'll look forward to seeing people throw objects at you to get you off the shoulders so we can all enjoy the show

Lots of love

Me

My darling

Did you actually place your opinion on here referring to my thread

Or just want to pick a fight ?

Forumites rock baby

He was rude without any reason

I was rude as I was provoked

You were aggressive and not even adding anything to the thread apart from negative and argumentative

Didn't see this becoming a row but I should have known better

You 'regulars' could start an argument out of anything

It's laughable

Agree with you op. I hate paying good money for a show only to have it ruined by selfish twats who couldn't give a shit about anyone else.

I'd like to see either of these belligerent assholes arguing with you put up with that.

They're clearly in the don't give a shit about anyone else camp.

And yes, there is a protocol for gigs, allow everyone to enjoy it.

"

The only argument here is that the OP is master of their own destiny. They should learn to look after themselve's. I'm also wondering how many more body parts i can be called today....

"At least you got to the gig.

I spent a fortune at Christmas on tickets for hubby for tonight only to find he was working away this week so my money was wasted and i have friday evening home alone

You could go alone. Or put up a meet request.

Who's it for? My daughter might be interested. "

I could go alone but iv not seen g (hubby) since monday plus now its a bit late to try to find a parking spot thats close enough for me to walk too. G would have dropped me off then parked the car.

I have a meet request but takers.

I would happily give the tickets to your daughter but we hadnt realised that they do a photo ID check of the name on the tickets at the entrance and its my name. Iv even phoned the hall and offered them free to them to re sell but they cant do that.

Hi, you're wrong. Sorry to destroy your rigid framing of what my opinion is. I concur with the OP re it being frustrating if someone is obstructing your view in the way described. My comment was actually the calling out of an opinion "Send me your addresses. I'll send you some tissues." that was sarcastic/joking/kinda pointing out that it wasn't the worst crime in the world, in a rude and baiting way - and the OP did so by immediately making personal remarks about the poster's intent - rather than questioning it, or ignoring it or something more mature. Then is further aggrieved at the retorts. I am perfectly entitled to comment that the OP was being rather dickish, as they are entitled to say to the commenter. But no! That must be because I am an asshole, and Clem is an asshole - neither of the other commenters could possibly be equally assholic. Get a sense of proportion, stop putting intent in other people's posts - if you don't get them, ask them, and stop with the personal woundedness. Crimony! And no, I'm not angry or pissed off, I think it's hilarious at how aggrieved you've got because someone pointed out that it's not that important in the grand scheme of things (in their opinion!)

Now back to your thread....play nicely.

Yep I can agree with the OP

People on shoulders;

Tree hugging hippys with flags;

Flares, yep that's another one;

I was at an accoustic gig, great location, summer evening & three dopey tarts, spent the entire time, looking at each other, talking loudly,

paying no attention to the music.

"The "fix" for the shoulder sitter always used to be a well aimed bottle of piss. Very effective in my experience. But seriously, if you're the sort of person who is going to get "very upset" about this kind of thing... then you have my deepest sympathies.

I am a said short person and I have sat on shoulders at festivals, in the past, I did ask all around if the minded and no one had a problem.

I never had a bottle of piss hit me. "

So..... you weren't taking the piss...

"Send me your addresses. I'll send you some tissues.

Ahhhh

Input from a forumite

Always thought provoking

Valid

Thank you for your genius input sir

Last festival i went to had people throwing bottles of piss at each other. If someone had got onto someone else's shoulders they would have fallen off and been trampled . I find it hard to sympathise with the OP. If you don't like it, stay home.

So you are saying (correct me if I've misunderstood, I'm sure you will)

If I have paid to see a band and wish to....see the band I should stay home because the people who paid for tickets who wish to obstruct my view take priority?"

Move?

"Beers yes

If you wanna get pissed

Go to the pub

I want to do both

Watch it on tv at home.

Avoid the rain/mud and you can get as pissed as you like and not bother anyone

So much this. I love Glastonbury, while I am at home with food and drink I can actually afford."

Yup, see best thing to do.

Watch Glastonbury on tv, get pissed, phone in a take-away, fall asleep at tv, and you can also record it also so you can "catch-up".

I'd so do the sitting on a man's shoulders at a gig. just for 1 minute.

Just to be small enough to sit on a man's shoulders at a gig
