I was asked for my surname and full address last night in a message, I politely told them no, if I wanted someone to come over I'd happily give my address out but not my surname, would you give yours out ?

.

Definately not, a good friend once messaged me my company name, address and phone number, because I stupidly put my real surname on MSN and my name was on companies house.

Consequently my 'surname' on MSN is Fictitious

Someone asking for personal details like that would set alarm bells ringing for me. Sends shivers down my spine just thinking what a total stranger could do with my full name and address and the savvy to do a little deeper digging.

i dont give anyone my address, i just feel as a single woman its not safe to hand out my address to men on sex sites

i wouldnt give anyone my full name either tho to be honest i cant see why you wouldnt if you gave them your address, what can they do with your sirname that they cant do with your address? im sure once they have your address they can find out a lot more about you than your name if they really wanted to

This vein attempt to cling to anonymity falls flat on your face if you use your own car for meets or socials. Obviously you don’t give out your full name but it really isn’t hard for someone to find you if they want.

i know people like to chat through msn also and then set up a FB or twitter account with the same email address.. its easy enough to find someones surname out if that is the case because you just enter the msn address into the search bar of FB

another point with the msn thing.. sometimes it comes up with a surname if you send or receive and email to another person.

Took me a while how to remove mine. I set up my account ages ago and naturally where it said 'surname' i typed it in, thinking nothing of it

If you send someone an email with the right software anyone can trace you if you from it. The whole keeping private is pretty hard these days if someone wants to nosey round.
